To support the MoHCC with response to acute malnutrition, centered counseling, education, information sharing on nutrition, health and medication, capacity building of health workers and community volunteers and collaboration with other sectors that play a role in the welfare of the targeted beneficiaries in the ADH Project.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Checking beneficiary education and compliancy on MoHCW related nutrition, health and disease prevention at family and community levels, and providing advice regarding the gaps.
- Conduct homes visits to determine the nutrition and health needs of the patients, and instruct families in care and rehabilitation of malnourished patients on treatment,
- Verify the ADH project compliancy in providing nutrition support to clients on treatment.
- Monitor the processes at the clinics/hospitals providing technical support to the health centre team and the beneficiaries.
- Check on referral systems for patients with social and emotional problems relevant to health and nutrition projects and link them with other agencies for appropriate and further management and care.
- Mobilize resources persons to disseminate relevant information on related subjects like nutrition education, malnutrition prevention through behaviour change positive living, livelihoods.
- Trains the community members, Village Health Workers and district/field health personnel to assess, plan for, and provide needed health and related services, like home care, maternal and childcare, nutrition and other subjects related to individual and community welfare.
- Conduct refresher training for Health workers on nutrition education, use of anthropocentric measurements to determine the admission and discharge criteria and follow-up of patients in the programme and after discharge.
Educational Background:
Degree in Nutrition, Nursing, Public Health, Nursing or Development studies with experience in public health/nutrition programming.
Skills/Experience:
- Knowledge of cash programming and livelihoods programming is an added advantage
- Minimum two years work experience in Community/Public health
- Knowledge of Commodities Management is an added advantage.
- Excellent English communication and presentation skills (oral & written)
- Ability to work in and contribute to team building environment
- Cross – cultural sensitivity, and ability to speak local languages.
