Under the supervision of the Senior Association Director of Accountability, Impact and Evaluation and consistent with the Christian mission, the Association Director of Grants will develop, manage and measure the association’s grants strategy and oversight of the grant management system for the YMCA Association. The director will research, identify and write current and new grant proposals and then write subsequent grant evaluation reports on behalf of the Association. Additionally, the role will support fundraising efforts and work with the marketing, membership, financial development and branch program teams to support the association’s strategy to engage existing and potential donors in meaningful opportunities for giving, sponsorship, event participation and other activities that increase partners’ commitment and support of the Y’s efforts to grow our reach, resources and impact. The role will support Corporate engagement efforts in partnership with the Corporate Engagement Subcommittee to establish an annual tracking system.
Grants (70%)- Grant Acquisition & Implementation
- Researches, develops and drives grant application process from start to finish, including: a) identifying and matching funding sources to programs, b) coordinating and completing the application process, in a timely manner and c) responsible for submission on all corporate, foundation, UW, YUSA and government grant applications for the YMCA Association d) ensures grants highlight impact and accountability of programming.
- Conducts research to identify and analyze potential new grant funding sources for Association Community Impact work, utilizing resources from the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library and Y-USA.
- Researches local community, state and national trends and patterns relevant to Community Impact grants.
- Helps to drive, maintain and increase current Association Community Impact funding streams.
- Oversees implementation of association-wide grants management process, providing updates and support to branch financial development teams by writing and submitting grants.
Grant Monitoring, Tracking and Reporting
- Develops and maintains tracking tool for Association Community Impact grant information including application and reporting deadlines, amounts, contacts and status.
- Writes creative, comprehensive reports for all major funding partners that demonstrate effective evaluation and outcome measurements utilizing data from the Association Director of Accountability.
- Collaborates with branch personnel and Association Director of Accountability to prepare and submit all required grant reports in a timely manner.
- Serve as a liaison for funders to provide reporting and grant financial information as requested.
- Identifies matching funding sources to programs, coordinates the application process, in a timely manner.
- Tracks the efficiency of YOGC annual progress of % applied for, %secured.
- In partnership with the Sr. Association Director of Accountability, Impact and Evaluation, develops an monthly reporting system to provide Sr. Staff with updates on the work.
Communications (10%)
- Develop plan to effectively and regularly communicate the Y’s impact with donors and partners from foundations, corporations and government entities.
- Develop plan to effectively communicate Association grant efforts and results with senior staff, branch leadership, board members and other stakeholders
- Conduct interviews with members, corporate leaders/employees, Y staff and volunteers for effective qualitative reporting of YMCA and/or program impact.
- Partner with marketing and communications to write web content or create fact sheets for communication related to YMCA and/or program impact.
- Project manages development of donor presentations and proposals when needed.
- Works as a team member to update on-going communication tools including program white pages and annual impact reports.
- Coordinates with Volunteer Director to increase corporate accountability reports that include volunteer, membership.
Program Impact and Accountability (20%)
- Support efforts of Chief Social Responsibility Officer and Senior Association Director of Accountability, Impact and Evaluation to enhance accountability and evaluation efforts.
- Work in collaboration with Finance and Accounting to assure grant proposals, grant-supported programs and grant evaluation reports adhere to both donor intent best practices and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Partner with Senior Association Director of Accountability, Impact and Evaluation to create, implement and monitor an internal grant award notification and accountability system.
- Minimum seven years of development, sales or related experience and verified grant writing skills.
