Areas of Responsibility: 

We seek a Sr HR Business Analyst that is passionate about using creative analytical insights in a manner that enables employees to deliver on bold aspirations. S/He will have an in-depth understanding of HR business processes and how to work within HR applications (e.g. a suite of applications, inclusive of, but not limited to, Workday) to optimize those processes. Additionally, s/he will:

  • Provide subject matter expertise on HR technology, processes, reports and integrations while identifying opportunities for automation and process improvement across HR technologies and integration with up and downstream systems; including conducting analysis of existing business processes, and identifying and evaluating possible re-configuration/ solutions in response to business issues and challenges.
  • Develop and provide overall direction, guidance, and definition of HR business architecture and blueprint to effectively support HR and foundation strategy across the entire employee and grant making lifecycle.
  • Be a trusted customer advocate leveraging cross-functional, best practice, and HR systems knowledge to help functional teams optimize their existing business processes at scale.
  • Define and document systems scope, objectives, and requirements based on both end-user needs and problems to technical associates and/or vendors where appropriate.
  • Document and evaluate required data and information; particularly data related to supporting HR transactions and reporting.  Use modeling, testing and data models to improve the flow of information through systems and processes to improve business results.
  • Work with the end-users to select or create appropriate scenarios to ensure changes meet user specifications.
  • Advocate and liaison for HR stakeholders and end users across foundation initiatives and with IT.  
  • Ability to analyze, advocate and support the full HR ecosystem:
    • Own and drive analyses of Workday outcome data to identify relationships and trends; help to interpret data and communicate noteworthy findings to senior HR and business leaders.
    • Providing ad-hoc or special project data analysis to HR and business leaders that enable them to achieve their goals and drive decision making.
    • Develop and maintain the HR Capability plan, and partner with IT on technology roadmap for HR and Payroll that leverages innovate and highest value focus.  
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree required; preference for business or computer science degree
Skills/Experience: 

We are looking for people who enjoy the challenge of working on complex problems and collaboratively creating solutions that delivers on the business capabilities needed to achieve HR’s mission for the foundation. The Senior HR Business Analyst must have an outstanding track record of achievement and leadership in roles of increasing responsibility. S/He must be prepared to work across a diverse set of disciplines, bridging a wide range of expertise all the while being a solid team player, with a demonstrated ability to work with flexibility, efficiency, and diplomacy in a fast-paced, challenging environment.

The successful candidate will be able to participate at both a deep technical level as well as at a business process level. S/He must can work in an Agile environment that has a focus on Cloud/SaaS, out of the box solutions.   

Additionally, s/he should have:

  • A background working closely with and/or in an HR department/function with high familiarity with the HR ecosystem inclusive of, but not limited to, benefits, payroll, recruiting, hiring, onboarding and HR law.
  • Experience mapping business capabilities to long-term technology solutions.
  • Experience in outlining solution architecture descriptions, monitoring and governing their implementation and identifying continual improvement opportunities in alignment with Enterprise Architecture framework.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentations; ability to articulate process and technology impacts to business customers at all levels.
  • Relationship building and consulting skills, including development of effective relationships with senior leaders.
  • Complex problem-solving knowledge and skills; including conflict resolution and facilitation.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; preference for business or computer science degree with;
    • Three years’ experience in implementing or supporting Workday application
    • Five years of software development and/or system configuration
    • Seven years supporting HR applications.
  • Delivery experience in Agile, Scrum, and Cloud environment.
