To manage communication efforts and oversee content development using a consistent organizational voice, in order to engage corporate donors, media, network members and national office staff in Feeding America’s priorities. Also responsible for managing communication requests from the national office.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Manages comprehensive communication strategies and executes tactics to engage target audiences in Feeding America’s priorities.
- Writes, edits, gathers assets and information, and plans and manages events.
- Drafts Feeding America external-facing communication, including press releases, key messages, corporate donor and cause-related marketing content and customizable toolkit materials, with a consistent brand “voice” reflective of Feeding America.
- Manage a portfolio that contains at least 25% of Feeding America’s Visionary and Leadership-level partners.
- Assists in the development of long-range media strategies and provides communication support for corporate partnerships and programs departments and supports organization’s objectives to mobilize the public and generate awareness for hunger and our brand.
- Prepares, manages and implements communication plan deliverables to promote corporate partner donor announcements, activities and cause marketing programs.
- In collaboration with the Director of Communication, vets and properly coordinates media interviews for spokespeople at Feeding America.
- As needed, develops effective communication strategies and programs, and proactively researches and pitches media opportunities for the leading domestic hunger-relief charity in the United States.
- Coordinates with network members’ local communication contacts for story development, media opportunities and event planning.
- Provides communication support to philanthropy relationship managers, including producing press highlight and social media activity summaries.
- Serves as a communication liaison for various organization projects, coordinating efforts with other MarCom department functions, including digital, media relations, entertainment industry outreach, as well as network members.
Educational Background:
BA/BS or equivalent experience.
Skills/Experience:
- 5+ years professional communications experience; nonprofit or PR agency experience is a plus.
- Superb editing and proofing skills; excellent oral & written communication skills, specifically for interacting with donor communities, national office staff, network members, and senior management.
- Desire to work in a creative environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Personal leadership skills and the ability to work as part of a team; strong project management skills and a customer service focus.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Understanding of social media platforms.
- Committed to organizational mission of ending hunger.
