The SVP of Technology will serve as the organization’s chief technology strategist as well as its senior information technology leader. The successful candidate will define and deliver IT strategy and capabilities across the organization. This includes data analytics and business intelligence, development and support, infrastructure, security and technical services. The SVP of Technology is a key contributor to the organization’s strategy and planning process and will be responsible both for IT operations and for technology innovation. It is critical for the SVP of Technology to build strong and productive relationships with all organization leaders, acting as a true partner and making IT a business enabler.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Strategy and Planning

  • Conceptualize, define, update and implement organization-wide technology strategies.
  • Align technology objectives and programs to organization objectives.
  • Make key contributions to the formulation of the organization’s operational / programmatic and technology strategies.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the organization’s operational requirements, its network relationships and its strategic goals.
  • Partner with the senior management team to identify, define and report progress on key technology initiatives and needs.
  • Proactively advise the senior management team on the emerging technologies and digital trends that are most relevant to the organization’s goals and evolving needs.
  • Help determine capital investment parameters, priorities and risks for enterprise-wide IT initiatives to maximize the return on investment.

Leadership / Management

  • Lead the IT team and its business partners in effective execution of IT strategy and roadmap.
  • Prepare and monitor IT operational budgets that meet prevailing objectives and constraints.
  • Build strong relationships with food bank network members, key Feeding America departments and their leaders across the enterprise, and develop a detailed understanding of their issues, challenges and opportunities. 
  • Implement the most appropriate and effective IT organizational design to support and engage with the organization.
  • Ensure transparency and collaboration between the IT organization and its business partners.
  • Maintain oversight of all IT projects, ensuring that commitments are properly planned, staffed, monitored and reported.

Organization Infrastructure and Applications

  • Establish metrics for managing IT effectiveness and for measuring the impact of IT on the business.
  • Establish appropriate service levels and the processes to ensure that KPIs are met.
  • Establish and enforce IT policies, processes, portfolio management, development standards and methodologies.
  • Monitor the industry for developments in IT operations; evaluate and implement relevant new tools and service management frameworks.
  • Review, recommend, and oversee all partners, vendors and managed service agreements for computing, telecommunications, IT services, and equipment.
  • Establish advanced and integrated applications to support the core processes and transactions of Feeding America with its partners (donors, members, agencies).
  • Provide technical leadership for Members in appropriate application areas and technology issues.
  • Provide technology support for Feeding America National Office (Help Desk, E-mail, Finance, Network Operations, Disaster Recovery/Backups, etc.). 

Risk Management

  • Align technology risk management with enterprise-wide risk management.
  • Establish a comprehensive enterprise information security program to ensure the integrity, confidentiality and availability of relevant data.
  • Lead the design and implementation of an enterprise-wide disaster recovery and business continuity plan.

Team development

  • Hire, develop, evaluate, reward, and retain a highly-qualified team of IT professionals.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, transparency and accountability in IT.
  • Ensure that the organization has strong systems analysis and project management skills, and the ability to execute business-critical projects.
  • Develop and maintain a plan that provides for succession and continuity in the most critical IT management positions.
Educational Background: 
BA/BS required or equivalent experience. Advanced degree preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 10 plus years’ experience in IT field including 6 plus in a senior IT leadership/management role.
  • Experience leading infrastructure and operations technical services for all IT technology domains, including PCs, networks, telecommunications, servers, security, help desk, etc.
  • Ability to create a clear strategic vision for information technology that supports organization objectives and can execute on that vision.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse leaders, communicate an IT vision and strategy across all levels of the organization, and build consensus around key initiatives and projects.
  • Solid knowledge in emerging technologies, and the ability to apply these in the service of the organization’s key business goals.
  • Experience leading complex, major change initiatives; demonstrated skills in change management (e.g., formulate/apply technology solutions to complex supply chain issues).
  • Experience building an enterprise level data analytics capability.
  • Builder of strong technology vendor partnerships, and able to manage multiple vendor relationships to ensure the best performance and financial return.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement comprehensive approaches to cyber security and risk management.
  • Experience designing and managing an effective IT governance framework across the spectrum of IT service delivery.
  • Committed to organizational mission of ending hunger.
