- Using Solomon accounting system; gather, prepare, analyze and summarize general ledger data on an accrual basis to ensure accurate computer financial statements.
- Prepare monthly journal entries and adjusting entries.
- Review, enter and post other monthly entries provided by other accounting department staff.
- Process month end allocations
- Post and close month end general ledger
- Prepare and generate month end financials statements for PPMM and affiliated entities in a timely manner for review by the Controller and Chief Financial Officer.
- Generate affiliate-wide and department specific monthly financials statements for managers, director and management team members to review. Research and answer questions from departmental managers regarding financial statements.
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet, income and expense accounts to the general ledger on a monthly basis.
- Analyze and reconcile bank and investment accounts on a monthly basis.
- Meet reporting requirements of external government and non-government agencies, as well as internal management to assist in making timely and effective decisions.
- Perform general ledger support activities including: reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts and providing as-needed back up support to the GL section of the Accounting department.
- Analysis of personnel costs, occupancy costs and indirect costs to ensure appropriate allocation of expenditures.
- Prepare, analyze and reconcile line items with the budget from the funding sources and internal agency budget, including temporarily restricted funds.
- Prepare schedules and provide support for various financial and tax audits.
- Participate in the preparation of agency annual budgets including the input of all the budget in to Solomon Software accurately.
- Assist in preparing reports and providing accounting-related information and analysis to departmental managers, management team, and various external bodies.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting or a related field required.
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience at the accountant-level. Non-profit experience a plus.
- Job Knowledge: Must possess detailed knowledge of all aspects of assigned duties as well as of the computer applications necessary to carry out these duties.
- Efficiency: Must complete assigned duties in timely manner.
- Accuracy: Must carry out job duties with a high level of accuracy

- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Governmental Audit Standards, U.S. Office of Management and Budget Circular A-133, and the pronouncements of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board.
- Considerable ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with PPMM staff, funding sources and the general public.
- Considerable ability to analyze complex data and exercise sound judgment without supervision.
- Considerable ability to understand and work in a complex data processing environment.
- Thorough knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing applications, such as Excel and Word as well as various Accounting and Payroll software applications.
- Ability to work independently and to plan and organize work effectively.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to multi-task, and handle a high volume workload.
- Must understand accounting methods and procedures.
- Organizational and decision making skills with ability to meet deadlines and to set priorities independently.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to maintain composure under stress.
