PSI is seeking a Procurement and Logistics Officer to provide its Commercial Sales and Distribution programs in 30+ low to middle income countries primary with but not limited to reproductive health, child survival and malaria health commodities and related healthcare items.. The Procurement Officer will report to Deputy Director -Procurement, and will be based in Washington, D.C.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Responsible for “Procure to Pay” cycle for procurement activity; including, but not limited to:
- Manage procurement process for commodity purchases in accordance with appropriate PSI regulations in a transparent manner
- Draft contracts and raise Purchase orders
- Explore opportunities and enter into Long Term Supply Agreements of Pharmaceutical products to reduce procurement process time.
- Ensure that all items procured meet appropriate quality standards;
- Liaise with field offices to proactively determine procurement needs and appropriate delivery schedules;
- Liaise with PSI staff to provide regular status reports, and coordinate scheduling and share information on orders;
- Support the process for quality checks at the field and HQ levels
- Provide regular status reports to field offices, and other internal customers;
- Explore opportunities with country offices, Social Enterprise, Global Marketing to explore and introduce new products in PSI Portfolio of products,
- Other duties as necessary to support PSI’s global health impact.
The selected candidate would be key member to Procurement & Logistic team working closely with key stake holders to:
- Develop Project Procurements and Supply Plans for introduction of New Products as well as existing Products in new countries
- Explore opportunities for Commercial Partnership and New Business Development with Pharmaceutical Manufacturers
- Assess opportunities to expand current supplier base of Quality Assured manufacturers for existing and new products to be introduced by PSI.

Our ideal candidate will possess:
- At least 5-7 years’ experience in procurement + new business development, in commercial pharmaceutical organization.
- Working knowledge of public procurement regulations.
- Have experience with developing systems for Vendor Evaluation
- Understanding of strategic sourcing
- Firm knowledge of overall supply chain operations
- Exceptional communication skills
- Strong MS Office operating skills, including Project Planning Software and Visio
- Interest in international development and working with multiple countries across time zones and culture; Intellectually curious individuals encouraged to apply
- Working knowledge of Spanish or French is preferred
