The Campaign Director will lead the fundraising initiatives and activities of the BrettonWoods@75 campaign a multi-faceted initiative to propel the organization forward and honor the 75th anniversary of the Bretton Woods institutions. The objective for this position is to direct all fundraising efforts towards achieving the $3-5M revenue goal.

This position is an opportunity for an experienced fundraiser to help drive transformative change at a critical moment for a small but growing institution. The Campaign Director will execute development strategy and lay the groundwork for an ambitious organizational growth agenda.

Working closely with the Executive Director, the Campaign Director will manage and cultivate relationships with an existing pipeline of corporate and major gift prospects as well as identify new prospective corporate, foundation and individual donors. The Campaign Director will make direct, face-to-face solicitations with major prospective donors; assist the Executive Director, Leadership Team and other staff as necessary with solicitations; and develop campaign materials and proposals for individuals, corporations, and foundations.

This is a temporary, full-time position through December 2019 with strong consideration toward permanent, full-time employment if revenue goals are achieved. This position can be based in either Washington, DC or New York.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provide overall leadership for implementation of successful $3-5 million fundraising campaign to expand services and put into action the vision of the organizational growth plan.
  • Lead the cultivation and management of a portfolio of corporate and individual major gift prospects and personally solicit and secure funding.
  • Partner with the Executive Director and Leadership Team to execute and coordinate high-level fundraising activities and individual meetings (some travel may be required).
  • Prepare solicitation materials for meetings including briefings, talking points, proposals, pitch decks, and targeted follow up.
  • Diversify and expand the campaign’s corporate and foundation prospect pipeline.
  • Collaborate closely with the Secretariat team to align fundraising strategies, promotions and materials with campaign priorities.
  • Support additional fundraising aspects of campaign including gala ticket sales, event sponsorships and individual giving.
  • Track prospects through the donor life cycle of discovery, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Develop and execute effective donor recognition and stewardship of all campaign gifts.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree
Skills/Experience: 

The ideal candidate will thrive working independently as a one-person development team in a small collaborative setting. Successful candidates will possess significant fundraising experience with a track record of cultivating relationships with people of influence. Major donor cultivation and/or campaign experience is required. General understanding of planned giving is preferred. The ideal candidate will have an existing network and relationships in the areas of finance, trade and development.

  • 5-7+ years of experience in a senior-level fundraising role at a non-profit organization.
  • Successful record of generating revenue through major gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Demonstrated track record of securing gifts at the six-figure+ level.
  • Superb interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to professionally represent the organization in high-level fora and with senior-level leaders.
  • Successful record of developing and executing development, fundraising and campaign plans.
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required.
