“Promoting Environmental Friendly Practices and Green School in Palestine” is a three-year grant from BMZ through World Vision Germany that will target 37 communities in Area C located in South Hebron, Central south Hebron (60%), West Ramallah and South Salfit (40%) through focusing on the environmental needs of the communities of Area C that includes but not limited to renewable energy systems installation, environmental awareness at school and community levels as well as building the capacity of the students to implement initiatives at school level related to the 3 Rs (recycle, reuse, reduce).
The project coordinator will organize, follow, supervise, and lead the implementation work of the project. In addition to leading meetings with targeted communities/ schools and other related stakeholders. This position will require ability to work with multi-stakeholders and ability to manage activities in different locations which imply ability to travel within West Bank.
To contribute to World Vision’s work by assisting field offices in the implementation and monitoring of all project activities in a way that contributes to the development, success and sustainability of WV’s ministry to the poor and oppressed.
Planning
- Identify the target schools in each communities based on the pre identified selection criteria and in direct coordination with the consultant, Ministry of Education, representatives of village councils and key community figures.
- Follow/adjust/update the detailed implementation plan of the project in line with WV procedures and requirements.
- Prepare a procurement plan in alignment with project activities.
Coordinate and/or conduct the annual project activities
Ensure timely and quality implementation of the project activities according to the plan/s. This will include:
- Conduct coordination meetings with key stakeholders including partners and village committees and LGUs to identify target villages, schools and identify roles and responsibilities
- Supervise the procurement, delivery, and implementation of project activities.
- Developing contracts and MoUs with key partners.
- Ensure meeting the technical specifications of the project activities in consultation with key partners and key community figures and in reference to the consultant recommendations.
- Coordinate and implement the awareness raising campaigns and various capacity building events to local partners, students, technical people and others as per the project planned activities
- Coordinate the development, printing and dissemination of training materials and manuals
- Contribute in contracting technical consultant as per the requirement of the set activities.
- Ensure meeting cash flow and abiding by the activity tracking table and take corrective actions in coordination with targeted field offices
- Develop the payment documents for all the project payments as per the requirements and procedures of World Vision (WV)
Coordination/ Networking
- Handle the responsibility of networking with key stakeholders and partners
- Ensure knowledge sharing with key partners
- Represent the organization in events related to environment and Green concepts such as workshops, training courses
- Ensure that field offices and GAM are informed and updated on the project progress
Monitoring and evaluation
- Assist NO DME staff in project monitoring and evaluation
- Provide monthly progress report to the Zonal Managers and GAM
- Assist in project mid-term and final evaluation
- Respond to the donors’ queries through GAM department
- Provide other monitoring and evaluation related information as requested
- Assist in providing and preparing the reports needed for the project in coordination with field offices and GAM
- knowledge of development issues in Palestine
- Fluency in spoken and written Arabic and English
- Ability to influence individuals and groups.
- Have good experience in environmental related activities such as 3 Rs, Green concepts and renewable energy.
- Effective skills in communication of information and ideas.
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Minimum four years' experience in development work, preferably with an INGO
- Demonstrated experience in environmental projects implementation.
- Experience in conducting and facilitating training courses a definite asset
- Proven experience in dealing with communities and community mobilization.
- Proven experience in preparing and writing environmental assessment report.
