The Regional Sponsorship Advisor is part of the Regional Programme Quality team working in close collaboration with the Partnership Sponsorship Field Support & Services Director and team towards efficient and effective sponsorship business processes, systems, services, programming and innovations that enhance sponsorship’s contribution towards realization of World Vision’s Child Well Being focused strategy, mission and vision.

This position leads, monitors and supports sponsorship in the National Office (NO)/ Regional Office (RO) but also actively contributes to the global Sponsorship community of practice. The position provides strategic and technical leadership including:

  • Contributing to definition and implementation of sponsorship strategic and operational priorities
  • Collaborating with DME/PQ and other sector specialists to ensure programme designs and implementation aligned to partnership strategy, sponsorship in programming principles and guidance
  • Assuring sponsorship service operations towards delivering requested sponsor engagement content and other deliverables on time and with quality
  • Engaging with relevant stakeholders to enable functional sponsorship business systems and processes at national and sub-national levels
  • Interpretation and application of sponsorship information and data to allow for informed leadership decisions at Regional and NO levels as well as relevant programme level actions
  • On-going sponsorship-related learning and innovation
  • Performance management, capacity building and support towards continued improvement in all aspects of sponsorship operations in the region
Areas of Responsibility: 

STRATEGY, PLANNING and LEAP 3

  • Lead the development and implementation of global and Regional priorities for sponsorship in the Region through the Regional strategy and annual business plans, and other strategic opportunities
  • Support National Offices in their Planning efforts to apply global and Regional sponsorship strategic objectives and priorities, with planning guidance, information and coordination.
  • Lead and Support the National Offices in strategy and operation, integrating Sponsorship considerations throughout their LEAP 3 transition planning and roll out and in their NO Strategy, development of Technical Approaches (TAs), and the design of Technical Programmes (TPs). Furthermore, the role will involve being the RO goal owner of leading and supporting the development of country-level Community Engagement and Sponsorship Plans (CESPs) in NOs in the region, adaptation of TPs in Area Programmes (AP), AP CESP development and supporting in the implementation of TPs and APs.
  • Represent NO and Regional voice in contributing to partnership sponsorship priorities and actions.

CONTRIBUTION OF SPONSORSHIP TO CHILD WELLBEING

  • Leads the effort of child sponsorship contribution to the wellbeing of children in the Region, which includes articulating and demonstrating the contribution of various sponsorship operations aspects to the well-being of children and enriched experience of supporters.    
  • Leads and supports the transition from current modes of Sponsorship operations in ADP practice in NOs in the region to quality implementation of Sponsorship in Programming (SiP) with evidence of contribution of SIP Essentials to program effectiveness and CWB.
  • Leads and supports developing evidence of sponsorship contribution to CWB in the Region through developing effective evidence systems and practices in ongoing implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation in NOs (e.g. integrated child and community programme monitoring system, utilization of Registered Children (RC) data for contribution to impact in NO Child Wellbeing Report, etc.).
  • Leads and supports to maximize the opportunity LEAP 3 brings to embedding and revising Sponsorship practices to increase contribution to CWB (e.g. through high quality CESP development and implementation, etc.)
  • Leads in the analysis; interpretation and application of Child Sponsorship Monitoring data to inform leadership decisions and programme practices at regional and national levels.

LEADING INNOVATION

  • Facilitate a culture among NOs in the region to both initiate and embrace innovation, reward experimentation, learn and improve and deliver recommendations for improved practices across the Sponsorship work streams.
  • Practice effective change management in leading and supporting NOs through the various changes in Sponsorship systems, practices and operations as required by the partnership
  • Provide leadership and support in collaborating with NOs, SOs and GC Sponsorship in developing new sponsorship based marketing models, products and effective sponsor engagement approaches (e.g. urban sponsorship model, new Sponsorship 2.0 rich media products, etc.)
  • Contribute to and leverage from the WV partnership multiple stakeholders within the One Organisation One Operation (O4) framework in strategic innovation, field-based solutions and promising practices and expertise
  • Lead and facilitate the process of learning and managing knowledge across NOs in the region of the experience, benefits and best practices of integrating and improving Sponsorship practices through LEAP 3 transition
  • Communicates a compelling vision for sponsorship as a transformational ministry and provide leadership to the integration of sponsorship and operations for ministry impact.
  • Provides strategic technical leadership and coordination to Regional and National Office on issues related to sponsorship service operations and programming.
  • Facilitate processes of setting sponsorship priorities, related action plans, provide performance feedback & advice to various sponsorship and management entities in the region including Regional and National Management Teams
  • Continually reviews critical challenges and areas of underperformance and lead processes to establish and implement relevant management action.
  • Informs NOs on the latest Partnership developments in sponsorship and coordinate NO involvement in Partnership initiatives and projects. (e.g., LEAP3 including Community Engagement and Sponsorship Plan (CESP); Sponsorship in Programming, Sponsorship in strategy etc.)
  • Leads and manages the relevant projects processes and staff in the region e.g. the Regional Sponsorship Coordinator and Sponsorship Capacity Building Associate
  • Manages and pursues integration of sponsorship processes with technical specialist. e.g. Health and Hope, Education, Programme Effectiveness, Child Protection and others.
  • Networks and manages collaborative relationships with other key stakeholders externally to further the aims of sponsorship and other relevant aspects of the WV ministry e.g. UNICEF and other Sponsorship Agencies.
  • Represents the Region in relevant partnership forum, networks and working groups.
  • Coordinates with relevant sectors such as health, child protection and education to manage preventable child deaths
  • Leads the engagement GC and SO staff on Sponsorship issues for the region.
  • Participate and attend GC Sponsorship and RO coordinating, engagement and planning meetings.
  • Coordinate and support implementation of Transformed Field Environment and Sponsorship Single User Interface in the NOs.
  • Co-leads work with RO and NO DME and Sponsorship Management NO RC retention, programme participation and benefiting strategies.
  • Ensure WV strategic aspects of Sponsorship are implemented in an integrated way with programming.

SPONSORSHIP OPERATIONS AND BUSINESS PROCESSESS

  • Provide leadership and ongoing support to NOs in the region in the implementation of ongoing end-to-end sponsorship business processes and systems, including achieving SOI, effectively utilizing the Horizon system, delivering on Sponsorship 2.0 targets, etc.
  • Support NO in planning and transition to LEAP 3 considering the possible operations and business process implications.
  • Collaborate with Global Sponsorship Field Ministry and Sponsorship Support Services and SOs as appropriate to facilitate expedient system trouble-shooting and problem solving towards smooth operations solutions.
  • Together with Global Sponsorship Operations and NOs, keep on top of existing systems and business processes capacity and support gaps, needs and play a key role in facilitating effective and efficient technical support towards practice of high quality business processes and operations. Develop adaptive support plans for various NO capacity scenarios appropriate to ensure high capacity operations are maintained proactively, and low capacity operations are adequately supported with clear improvement targets and investment from partnership stakeholders provided.
  • Leads work with the NO Sponsorship Managers and Operations Directors, and National Directors (as required) to ensure effective SOI monitoring, reporting and provision of management advice and support to National Offices through the monthly and quarterly reporting processes.
  • Establishes and shares sponsorship promising practices and lessons learnt from audits, researches as well as other M&E processes.
  • Provides quality assurance, preparatory and other support for sponsorship management project design, monitoring and evaluation, annual planning, audits, certification and related processes
  • Manages implementation of Sponsorship in Programming as an integrated part of LEAP 3 programming and community engagement on Sponsorship.
  • Guides and monitors production of quality Supporter Engagement products (improved APRs, CC, Community and Child videos and photos).
  • Leads sponsorship in emergencies technical guidance in collaboration with relevant RO and NO HEA, Communications and Sponsorship leads including exception approvals with GC Director for Sponsorship Field Support and Services.
  • Sponsorship budgeting and planning guidance to NOs to assure attainment of key priorities on budget and on time with quality.

CAPACITY BUILDING

  • Proactively develop the capacity of NO Sponsorship staff in the core competencies of sponsorship leadership and technical competencies, through various adult-learning modes – coaching, mentoring, facilitating NO-to-NO learning, training, engagement of trainers, establishing institutional links, identifying opportunities for staff exchange or mentoring, etc.
  • Travel as needed to national offices in the region to provide face to face in-country strategic support and capacity building
  • Build a team among NO Sponsorship managers and their staff in the Region as part of a network; conduct ongoing calls to exchange learning, problem-solve together, etc. Share / facilitate access to programming resources and appropriate learning and support opportunities for national offices.
  • Provides leadership for capacity building New Sponsorship NOs and those experiencing significant growth and/or major capacity related challenges.
  • Collaborate with NOs in selection of new Sponsorship Managers, their orientation, coaching and capacity building to enhance their efficiency and effectiveness
  • Coordinate with other technical specialists in planning, facilitating and reporting on NO monitoring and support visits.
  • Assess needs and build organizational capacity to deliver excellent sponsorship performance using a variety of methods (e.g., coaching, mentoring, secondments, staff exchanges, training, etc.).
  • Proactively engage with key stakeholders including the Regional QA/PS Director, GC Director for Sponsorship Field Support and Services and other stakeholders within the national, support, regional and global offices to celebrate progress and enlist support to address sponsorship challenges within the region.
  • Provide leadership and sponsorship sectoral input into relevant regional and global capacity building processes and initiatives
  • Contributes to development of capacity building resources for sponsorship
  • Leads sponsorship regional capacity building efforts including Sponsorship Basic Orientation and Sponsorship Basic Training for Development Programming across all NOs in the region

QUALITY ASSURANCE and RISK MANAGEMENT in Business Processes, Policies, Guidelines and Standards

  • Contribute to assuring that business processes are effective, appropriate in the Regional context, aligned and integrated with other partnership business processes, integrated with programming and contribute to child wellbeing outcomes.
  • Work with Global Centre (GC) Sponsorship Field Ministry and Sponsorship Global Service Operations in ensuring effective Key Performance Indicators (KPI) monitoring and reporting. Likewise ensuring national offices’ adherence to partnership sponsorship policies and standards. Support national offices in sponsorship evaluation, audit, etc.
  • Provide support to National Offices in ensuring adherence to policies, protocols, operations standards are met and maintained related to sponsorship, including Sponsorship in Emergency response support, monitoring and reporting
  • Provide leadership to assure accountability, transparency and integrity to WV Sponsors and communities
  • Provide leadership to developing and monitoring ongoing risk management related to sponsorship programmes​

INTEGRATION towards better Evidence and Impact

  • Work within the scope of the regional programmes team, implementing an integrated business plan, collaboratively contributing to the goal of better Evidence and Impact on child well-being in the region.
  • Provide leadership and support to NOs to strengthen the integration of Sponsorship with other NO Units towards increased regional effectiveness and efficiency, through processes such as NO Annual Business Planning, DME processes, Organisational Capacity Plan (OCP), Program Support Team annual Action Plan (PST), etc.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Programmes Director

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS AND PARTNERS

  • Act as a strategic link and focal point for Regional sponsorship connecting National Offices, Support Offices and Global Center for mutual support.
  • Participate and actively contribute in the partnership forums, working groups and networks related to sponsorship.
  • Develop external relationships and partnerships, such as other organizations operating with a Sponsorship Model towards learning and improved practices and models in Sponsorship work.
Educational Background: 
University degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, International Studies or a related field is preferred. Advanced degree is desirable.
Skills/Experience: 
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of child focused TD, Sponsorship for Transformation, Sponsorship in Programming, Service Operations business processes at Area Development Programme and National Office levels and sponsorship policies and standards.
  • Knowledge on child development, protection issues and development programming.
  • Knowledge of other various technical sectors of development and how these sectors can effectively be integrated to promote child well-being.
  • Strong cross-cultural, interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability and commitment to work with and lead a broad variety of people from various cultural, linguistic, religious and educational backgrounds.

​PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Five years of experience in relief and transformational development programming work.
  • Work experience in a WV national office at the grassroots level
  • Experience in program design
