Program Officer - Strategy Execution, Postsecondary

The Program Officer for Strategy Execution will be responsible for providing support and leverage to a complex strategy execution challenge across the Postsecondary team. The primary focus of this effort would be to collaborate with a senior program officer and other leadership staff on behalf of approximately 20 program officers with varied and interdependent responsibilities.  It will also include supporting cross team planning and coordination designed to improve overall strategy execution. Will potentially include some grant or investment related responsibilities as well.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Design, reveal and follow up with interrelated work efforts, grantee partner relationship management opportunities and interconnected investment/grant results across the breadth of the Postsecondary Success strategy.
  • Plan, manage and execute a wide range of activities in support of strategic execution efforts while managing internal and external relationships.
  • Understand and potentially manage internal processes and portfolio progress while ensuring appropriate documentation, grant budgeting and reporting.  Improve operational efficiency and effectiveness ‘in between’ key portfolios and their expected results.
  • Assist with Annual Planning and project management support.
  • Coordinate and potentially facilitate meetings and general communication among various program officers on interdependent issues.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s or other advanced degree with 5+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Proven ability to learn new topic areas, understand complex systems and maintain curiosity.
  • Strong experience in identifying, structuring and designing improvements between interdependent functions, processes and people.
  • Experience with large scale strategy and planning efforts that span multiple organizational silos or teams, including executive leadership.
  • Knowledge and preferable experience with systems and/or process change within and between large organizations.
  • Proven ability to remain organized, task oriented and persistent in the context of abstract strategies.
  • Understanding of strategies for automating the process of quantitative and qualitative data collection in a variety of settings and sites.
  • Effective as a collaborator in complex internal and external orgs, particularly when there may be conflicting viewpoints.
  • Extensive project contribution and management experience especially in the face of resistance.
  • Strong analytical, writing and verbal skills for communicating with a broad and diverse audience.
  • Works with efficiency and diplomacy, with shared goal achievement in mind.

Education and Experience

  • Experience in higher education preferred but not required.
  • Experience within a consulting environment preferred but not required.
