Responsible for managing and implementing one (1) small to midsize fundraising campaign or core event for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) in support of LLS’ mission, within the Chapter's chartered area.

Mission of LLS: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. The mission of LLS is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Since its founding in 1949, LLS has invested more than $1 billion for research specifically targeting blood cancers.

The Campaign:  The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Student Series campaign is a 3-week fundraising campaign conducted in schools across the Indiana Chapter to see which school can raise the most money.  While each school conducts its own campaign, all schools are united by one goal: to learn leadership skills to raise funds to help blood cancer patients live longer and more fulfilling lives. This position will manage a portfolio of schools in Northern Indiana, and the ideal candidate will be located in that geographical area.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, oversee and manage fundraising schools. Alongside schools, develops fundraising goals and an executable plan for reaching those goals
  • Identify and cultivate top fundraiser schools
  • Conduct strategy and/or goal planning meetings with volunteers and students
  • Conduct kick-off assemblies
  • Monitor fundraising progress of participants to determine appropriate strategies to maximize fundraising
  • Travel throughout assigned geographical area (Indiana only)
  • Develop strong relationships with volunteers, sponsors & key corporate & community leaders to support growth of program
  • Identify and cultivate long term relationships with fundraising schools who have potential to make a significant impact on the LLS mission
  • Maintain accurate financial records and continuously evaluate statistical data for entire program; report and maintain accurate information on prospect development, revenue forecasts, conversion and stewardship activity; track income and expenses; facilitate comprehensive campaign records, evaluations and reports
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with participants, volunteers and staff
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the LLS mission and its programs
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

  • Thorough understanding of school fundraising decision-making processes and culture
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities to meet critical deadlines
  • Team player dedicated to ensuring that the programs are projecting a professional, cohesive and collaborative image at all times
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • 1+ years of demonstrated success in fundraising, sales or corporate development
  • 1+ years of proven success in event fundraising and in motivating volunteers to raise money
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Highly organized and professional demeanor
  • Motivational presenter to all demographics – students and adults
  • Ability to work early mornings, and various evenings and weekends as necessary
  • Ability to travel throughout the chapter's region (68 Indiana counties)
  • Technically proficient with Microsoft Office and database programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, listening and selling skills
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities effectively
  • Relationship driven
