 Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Middle TN, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the Executive Director, the Development Director will provide staff leadership for the annual fund raising program for the Center.  Working in a team environment s/he will help the Center develop and implement the annual fundraising plan and work to accomplish goals therein.  The Development Director works directly for the Executive Director and is a member of the Association Philanthropy YMCA team.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Model the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
  • Prepare and implement a campaign plan for a successful Annual Giving Campaign consistent with the annual fundraising best practices and Association guidelines
  • Maintain all aspects of Development plan, including calendar, goal setting, organizational charts, thank you plan, volunteer recruitment, donor cultivation/awareness tours, key indices, and benchmarks along the way
  • Coach, mentor and train development team on key initiatives, including volunteer development and training, solicitation of donors, and coordination of staff roles in Centers served
  • Oversee Major Gifts Portfolio, using the moves management system, oversee the major gifts relations plan as it relates to the Center Executive, and update weekly 
  • Serve as staff liaison to Board members, advisory council, key stakeholders, campaign volunteers and donors
  • Assists the center director to deepen their involvement and strengthen their relationship with the center
  • Manage campaign through use of Raiser’s Edge software.  Includes pledge entry, tracking, production of essential reports, and other required software management related to the success of the Annual Giving Campaign
  • Act as Event Coordinator for assigned Center’s kickoffs, celebrations, dedications, and other special events
  • Provide leadership in securing grant income from foundations, corporations and government agencies
  • Responsible for targeting and cultivating funding sources, developing proposals and coordinating follow-up reporting  
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions

Required Certifications

  •  Before start of 1st shift: New Hire Orientation training
  • Within 60 days of hire: Listen First Certification
Educational Background: 
Four year college degree in a related field preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA
  • Superior supervisory skills and an enthusiastic personality with the ability to inspire and motivate staff, volunteers, members and participants to create a culture of service
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community 
  • Must present a professional image and possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software programs, as well as the ability to use most office equipment is required
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Minimum five years face to face fund raising experience required; YMCA experience preferred

$34,299.00 - $42,874.00
