This position is responsible for the integrity and management of the wish granting policies and guidelines for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and its chapters. Acts as authority on all wish related issues that come to the attention of the National Office.  The Senior Manager, Mission Advancement partners with key stakeholders throughout the organization at both the national and chapter levels to ensure the quality and integrity of the wish-granting process.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Coaches and provides support to program staff at all 62 chapters in areas such as process review and guidance, pipeline management, wish review, etc., to improve the capacity and performance of wish staff across the organization.
  • Provides national direction and program assistance to chapters and national staff on all wish-granting related issues.
  • Conducts on-site assessments of chapter program departments as needed, providing consultation and recommendations to chapter program and executive leadership.
  • Leads national program related task forces and/or work groups to address strategic wish-related initiatives.
  • Reviews and analyzes monthly, quarterly and annual wish data to identify trends at both aggregate national and individual chapter levels.
  • Provides direction and interim chapter program management for chapters in crisis as needed.
  • Support the maintenance, review and revision of national wish granting Performance Standards and Guidelines as needed. Communicate and share with chapters.
  • Develops and implements training modules and webinars for program staff to ensure high quality wish granting across the organization.
  • Acts as primary liaison to wish families contacting the National Office for support and guidance. Assist with wish family emergencies.
  • Participates in chapter wish committees as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties, as assigned.
  • Work in an office environment, remote working arrangements considered.
  • Approximately 30% travel required.
  • May require work outside a traditional Monday – Friday work week, and outside normal business hours.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Non-Profit Management, Business, or related field required.
Skills/Experience:

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Sound knowledge of nonprofit best practices, with ability to translate into day to day operations.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated consultation, collaboration, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with strong ability to plan, prioritize and multi-task.

Required Experience

  • 5 – 7 years of experience in non-profit organization/environment required; experience in Make-A-Wish chapter mission leadership preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required, including demonstrated expertise in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
