The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Regional Campaign Manager in our National Center office located in Dallas, TX (Remote/Home Based is acceptable) .
The Regional Campaign Manager is responsible for effectively building the capacity of state and community advocacy organizations, through hands-on field consultation, coaching and technical support, using the Voices for Healthy Kids Technical Assistance Model. Regional Campaign Managers will take an account management approach to build trusted partnerships with local funded states and communities that will facilitate the successful development and implementation of customized and strategic technical assistance plans in collaboration with key national partners and other RWJF-funded programs, supporting AHA Affiliate Staff, external organizations and public policy coalitions working to advance the Voices for Healthy Kids' public policy priorities to address childhood obesity. Assistance to organizations and coalitions will emcompass the entire range of policy change activities including strategic campaign planning, bill drafting, media, grassroots, grasstops and coalition development and management.
- Executes effective relationship management of funded state and community advocacy organizations and coalitions to ensure that these grantees effectively implement technical assistance and campaign plans. Executes effective relationship management with unfunded state and community advocacy organizations and coalitions to ensure that campaign plans are effectively implemented.
- Promotes and demonstrates effective collaboration with all Voices for Healthy Kids and strategic advocacy partners to ensure the effectiveness of field technical assistance.
- Attends and participates in all relevant AHA, RWJF, and other external meetings throughout the year, including volunteer advocacy meetings, as appropriate.
- Cultivate relationships for philanthropic organizations, public health coalitions, and other community leaders to help advance Advocacy Organization priorities and support and inform the Voices for Healthy Kids' approach to technical assistance for state and local campaigns.
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of local, state and federal government activities and structures. Ability to assess the local and state governments related to advocacy issues.
- Successful experience or demonstrated understanding in advocacy/public policy, community organization/mobilization, media/communications, and grassroots advocacy tactic development and implementation.
- Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple, complex projects in varying stages of development under time constraints.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with volunteers, staff, and the public as part of a team.
- Experience working in a program, grant or advocacy issue campaign environment.
- Must be able to travel overnight approx. 25% of the time.
