This role is accountable for the development, administration, supervision and delivery of programs and initiatives in the areas of health promotion, disease management, and community health. This role will work in partnership with local and association Y leadership, to develop a plan for association-wide implementation of programming and initiatives to reduce obesity and support those with health challenges, utilizing community needs data and recognizing organizational capacity.

Areas of Responsibility: 

This role is critical to ensuring the YMCA is recognized as an expert and leader in healthy living initiatives, including:

  • Serving as program coordinator for the YMCAs Diabetes Prevention Program, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, Healthy Weight and Your Child, YMCA Healthy Weight Program, and other evidence-based health interventions.
  • Working with the medical community to recruit program participants and encourage ongoing referrals for these programs. Recruit, screen and register eligible participants into programs.
  • Developing and integrating programs and services that support new market opportunities.
  • Building relationships with the clinical partners, community based organizations and our member population to promote, market, and retain participants in the specified programs

The successful incumbent will build, manage, and leverage strategic relationships with partners including the medical community, Departments of Health, educational institutions and community based organizations. This position’s primary focus is on providing centralized leadership for evidence-based programs and strategic initiatives, supporting those with health challenges, and fighting the obesity epidemic.

Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree, with background in public health, nutrition, nursing or other related field
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of five years or more related work experience, including program coordination
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships, inspire confidence, and work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders (physicians, public health officials, employers, health seekers, cancer survivors, and lifestyle coaches)
  • Proven experience in actively seeking funding sources for sustainability of programs
  • Knowledge in exercise science
Compensation/Benefits: 

$62,000.00 - $68,000.00
