Associate Director, Gift Processing

The Associate Director, Gift Processing works closely with the Director, Gift Processing to ensure all donations are booked according to contribution type, with efficient processes and in line with SCUS financial coding and accounting requirements.  The AD will be the main contact for the Corporate, IPG and Foundations Resource Development teams and will lead on aligning gift processing resources with their fundraising initiatives. The AD is a leader within the Gift Processing team and works to ensure consistent data quality standards across all gift entry points, by training key individuals on established policies and procedures and performing ongoing data audits.  The AD plays a key role in resolving issues relating to gift processing, and sets in place procedures to prevent future issues. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Responsible for processing and coding of gifts according to contribution type and donor intent, ensuring that accounting requirements for revenue booking are met.  The AD works within Finance and also with RD departments on code creation for non-routine gifts and will need to exercise sound judgement based on donor intent and knowledge of SCUS coding structure. Examples of non-routine gifts are those requiring hyper designated codes, centennial campaign gifts, conditional and unconditional pledges. (25%)
  • As a leader of the gift processing team the AD ensures that documentation supports donor intent and meets IRS and audit requirements. The AD reviews data processed by the gift processors for accuracy and ensures required back up documentation is scanned and stored electronically for retrieval during audit. (25%)
  • Provides leadership and training for Resource Development fundraising colleagues on gift processing policies and procedures.  Attends inter-departmental meetings to advise on and be informed about new upcoming initiatives.  Works to ensure the success of new initiatives by identifying and advising on IT projects as required and resolving coding issues ahead of time. (20%)
  • Oversees daily reconciliation work carried out by the team and consolidate monthly reconciliations for all sources of payments recorded in BBEC with the bank.  (10%)
  • Review procedure documents and support Director, Gift Processing on the establishment of new policies and the interpretation of existing policies.  . (10%)
  • Continuous Improvement projects (5%)
  • Lead and manage two coordinators, ensuring even distribution of workload and leave time cover of all essential duties. (5%)
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • You have a minimum 5-7 years' experience in non-profit gift processing or related field
