HPV Vaccinate Adolescents against Cancers (VACs) program, a CDC-funded initiative to increase adolescent HPV vaccination rates across the country. Assists Data Manager and other program team members with qualitative and quantitative data collection, management, analysis, visualization, and reporting tasks, as well as related administrative, research, and communications activities. This position includes the opportunity to collaborate on programmatic research and submit manuscripts for peer-reviewed publicationThis is a unique opportunity to contribute to and learn from a successful, fast-moving team working to prevent cancers. Interns are full-fledged team members whose input is valued and held to the same standards as other team members.
- Conduct data management and analysis tasks as assigned, such as data cleaning, merging datasets, recoding variables, conducting statistical tests, and creating codebooks.
- Conduct qualitative research tasks as assigned, such as creating interview guides and coding transcripts.
- Collaborate with program team on evaluation planning, including participation in team meetings.
- Build data collection instruments in platforms such as Survey Monkey and Adobe Acrobat.
- Support data collection processes, including direct contact with field staff across the country.
- Maintain and update existing reporting tools, such as Tableau and Excel dashboards.
- Support Data Manager in developing new reporting tools.
- Collaborate on tasks for publication, including manuscript writing and literature reviews.
- Maintain HPV vaccination literature database with the latest relevant articles.
- Draft and edit communications materials related to program evaluation.
- Assist in planning and execution of meetings and webinars.
- Perform editing, clerical and other duties as assigned.
- Experience in qualitative and quantitative research and evaluation
- Content experience in health communications, health behavior, cancer prevention, and/or infectious disease preferred.
- Able to independently meet deadlines, solve problems, and track deliverables for multiple projects
- Highly-motivated self-starter, ready to be an integral part of a fast-moving team
- Demonstrated ability and interest in quantitative and qualitative data analysis
- Demonstrated ability and interest in research design and evaluation planning
- Experience with relevant software, such as Excel, Stata (or other statistical package), MAXQDA (or other qualitative research software), Tableau (or other visualization software)
- Fast learner, able to pick up on new techniques and software platforms quickly
- Ability to interact and effectively communicate with multiple team members
- Strong attention to detail

All Interns Must meet the following requirements:
- Full-time student
- Have a minimum of a B average (cumulative 3.0 on 4.0 scale);
- Plan to continue their education in the following term/semester
- Note: an internship assignment may coincide with the student’s last term/trimester, but student must disengage upon graduation.
