PSI seeks seeks qualified, dynamic candidates with significant expertise in project management including; planning, budget design & tracking, deliverables monitoring, and technical familiarity with sexual & reproductive health for covering the position of Program Manager for its West and Central Africa region for three to four months (mid-July to mid-November) of maternity coverage.
S/he will be responsible for delivering financial, programmatic, and organizational support for country programs, connecting platforms with functional and technical departments in PSI/Washington; managing a small program support team; providing strategic planning support; fostering relationships with key donors; and developing new business opportunities for PSI.
- Ensuring that the various technical, operational, financial and administrative needs of the assigned country and regional programs are being met by liaising and developing relationships with technical and support departments;
- Holding monthly meetings with the assigned country teams to review health impact, monitoring achievement against targets, and tracking obstacles/challenges to achievement; burn rates; other programmatic or financial issues as they come up;
- Assisting in maintaining, and strengthening donor relations;
- Supporting and contributing to New Business Development opportunities, including developing new contacts and funding sources, identifying new project/product opportunities, writing proposals, developing donor budgets, and designing new programmatic interventions;
- Reviewing programmatic reports; and donor deliverables
- Supporting the budget management across all assigned countries and regional awards, including budget realignments, cost-extensions, and no-cost extensions
- Supervise and mentor a team of 2 Associate Program Managers with attention to opportunities for growth and development;
- Advise Regional Director on relevant issues; keeping them informed of significant developments and issues pertaining to the country programs or impacting operations overall
- 5+ years of experience related to international development (international health preferred) and at least two years working in a developing country
- Exceptional problem-solving and organizational skills
- Significant experience in developing and monitoring budgets
- Demonstrated management capacity in a fast paced work environment
- Demonstrated experience with international donors and familiarity with international development and health issues; experience with USAID assistance and acquisition awards highly preferred
- Fluency in English is required and a high level of proficiency in French is required.
