The Associate Vice President, Human Resources will report directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer, and will assist in formulating, recommending and proactively supporting the team responsible for the day to day execution of Save the Children’s Human Resources services.  This role will serve as the operational deputy for the Chief Human Resources Officer, ensuring a comprehensive and agency wide perspective for our HR Service Delivery.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provide leadership, supervision, direction and coordination to HR Business Advisors responsible for helping senior management adapt and implement HR programs within their Business Units.
  • Work with HR Senior Management Team, including colleagues in their respective centers of expertise and HR Business Advisors to align operations with a global and corporate perspective.
  • Assist the Chief Human Resources Officer and HR Senior Management Team in developing short and long-term plans, organizing departmental resources to achieve departmental goals and operational objectives
  • Build effective relationships within the Human Resources Team to foster an environment of collaboration, clear, consistent and supported communication, and camaraderie
  • With HR colleagues, build strong business relationships with business teams and serve as a key HR Business Adviser to senior management by analyzing HR issues and challenges within their business unit and proposing clear and practical solutions.
  • Ensure focus on Save the Children’s Talent Development within business units to include building a robust pipeline for roles, maintaining a competitive advantage, identifying common development opportunities, and ensuring the selection and promotion of the best talent across the Agency
Educational Background: 
You have a minimum of 15-20 years' experience in Human Resources and a Bachelor degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • You are an expert level technical leader in Human Resources with the managerial knowledge, skills, and experience to lead a department
  • You have a successful track record in leading and developing cohesive teams
  • An energetic, forward-thinking, and creative individual with high ethical standards, outstanding active and passive communication skills
  • Demonstrated sound HR technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus; a strategic planner.
  • The proven ability to relate to people at all levels of the agency; an intelligent and articulate person who possesses excellent communication skills.
