The March of Dimes, the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health, is seeking a highly energetic Social Media Specialist to execute and implement the social media strategy. This is a full-time, exempt position located in Arlington, VA, with telecommuting possible. The Social Media Specialist will report directly to the Social Media Team Lead. S/he will work in conjunction with the Chief Digital Officer, Director of Digital Marketing, and Marketing, Brand and Fundraising teams, to implement the social media strategy and tactics to increase the reach, influence and engagement of the organization’s social media footprint.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who demonstrates a high degree of proactivity, works well in a collaborative environment, is comfortable learning new technology and keeps abreast of social trends.
- Help manage and monitor the March of Dimes’ social media properties to help increase brand awareness, revenue, and traffic online.
- Execute Foundation’s social media strategy to meet campaign or program goals.
- Monitor and engage with social media users to grow brand awareness and positive sentiment online; collaborate with Marketing and
- Communications to develop and implement influencer strategies.
- Maintain editorial calendar and curate digital asset database to ensure brand and message consistency.
- Manage internal requests for social media publishing to ensure compliance with all contractual obligations.
- Collect and parse social media analytics to measure against campaign and performance goals and KPIs.
- Watch current trends/tools and industry best practices in social media to help further inform ongoing social strategy.
- Monitor news media/current events that speak to issues related to women’s issues/mom & baby health to maximize exposure.
- 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Thorough understanding of social platforms, trends, and SMMS
- capabilities and function.
- Experience using Social Media Management Systems and tools such as
- Sprout Social, Union Metrics, Insights, Hootsuite, etc.
- Excellent written and verbal skills, including public speaking.
- Project management experience/national social media campaign
- management and support.
- Crisis communications management experience.
- Ability to think creatively and the desire to problem solve.
- Understand the basics of paid search and display advertising.
- Experience with/understanding of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop,
- Dreamweaver, Flash), HTML and CSS programming, Web analytics
- (Omniture, Google Analytics) preferred.
- MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
