Job Overview:

Reporting to the Senior Development Director, the Individual and Annual Giving Manager develops solicitation campaigns for Cascade’s individual donor pool including year-end solicitations, mid-year upgrade solicitations, lapsed donor win-back strategies and new donor acquisition strategies. This role will also develop, in conjunction with the Senior Director of Development, donor segmentation strategies and track the giving behavior of specific pools of Cascade donors. This position also develops overall stewardship strategies for all donor pools and works with the Senior Director of Development to develop comprehensive and consistent donor strategy for all Cascade donor audiences.

The Individual and Annual Giving Manager will also develop donor solicitation strategy (in conjunction with Washington Bikes Senior Policy Director for Washington Bikes, Cascade’s 501c(4) advocacy organization that focuses on shaping policies that will make bicycling a safe, accessible form of transportation, travel and recreation in Washington State.

The Individual and Annual Giving Manager will carry a pool of mid-level donor prospects ($250 - $500) and conduct personal visits with individual donors to grow their relationship with Cascade.

Department Overview:

The membership & development team fosters vital relationships with corporate partners, individuals and foundations so Cascade can run our educational programs and fulfill our mission of bicycling for all. The five-person team has measurable individual goals and works collaboratively to ensure Cascade meets overall revenue goals.

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage Cascade’s entry and mid-level donor programs. Create and implement the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategy for each tier of donors based on a hybrid of Annual Fund communication and 1:1 Portfolio Management best practices.

  • Have personal meetings with donors assigned to the Individual and Annual Giving Manager portfolio for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship purposes.

  • Identify new prospects and existing donors with upgrade potential, develop effective strategies for solicitation, and solicit accordingly for both Cascade’s membership program and individual donors.  

  • Other duties relating to entry and mid-level donor program include: SalesForce record management, strategy plans maintenance, forecasting, and donor tier classification.

  • Manage a relationship portfolio of approximately 50-75 donor/prospect households.

  • Create multi-year, customized engagement and solicitation plans for each donor household.

  • Provide effective stewardship to individual donors; report on results of their support, develop and document plans for continued engagement. Performance metrics include, but are not limited to: face-to-face visits, non-solicitation contacts, documented call reports, and proposals submitted.

  • Monitor and record all meaningful contacts with donors and prospects in SalesForce.

  • Partner with Cascade’s marketing team to develop messaging for annual and targeted e-appeals and mailings for members and donors

  • Create and manage a biannual donor newsletter

  • Generate minimum of $600,000 in revenue within first year to grow donor program in subsequent years within industry best practices

 

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree required, fundraising experience preferred. Three or more years of successful experience in Development, preferably in Individual Giving fundraising. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Donor communication experience preferred. CRM proficiency required. Passion for Cascade’s mission preferred.

Salary Range:

$55,000-$65,000 annually. This is a full-time, exempt position.

 

Due to the large-scale nature of events and their importance to the fiscal well being of Cascade and WA Bikes, staff members are required to work several events a year, a mix of mandatory all-hands events and choice events. This position may also require some evening and weekend work.
