The Communications Specialist serves as the point of contact for all United States Sponsorship communications projects, marketing materials, child photos and correspondence quality required of country offices in the annual management plan, sponsor communications stream and sponsorship policies and procedures. The Specialist directly reports to the Sponsorship Director and is responsible for the timely compilation and creation of all Sponsorship communications and marketing materials for sponsor acquisition and retention as well as sponsorship community partners and beneficiaries. Key responsibilities of this position include asset collection, creation of written communications and templates, compilation of community kits and branded materials, and quality control of routine correspondence and child photos. The Sponsorship Communications Specialist is required to represent Save the Children’s core values of Accountability, Ambition, Collaboration, Creativity, and Integrity to internal and external audiences.
Asset Collection and Communications Stream
- Create and compile all videos, photos, blogs, success stories and case studies required in the country office annual management plan
- Create and compile content for the Annual Status Report, Lifeline updates, phase-over notifications, and holiday card
- Contribute to the development of other acquisition and retention materials and media as requested by SCUS and GSO
- Manage vendor relationships and procurement of video production, photography and printing services
Community Resources and Branding Materials
- Update existing and develop new communications, manuals and resources for sponsorship partners and community liaisons
- Coordinate the procurement and dissemination of community kit materials throughout the year
- Apply SCUS branding guidelines to any new or refreshed documents deployed to sponsorship partners and beneficiaries
- Maintain the USP Sponsorship Staff and Partner Portals on SharePoint
- Compile the weekly community liaison newsletter
- Provide technical support with press releases, newsletter content, and other communications and marketing needs to community liaisons and community engagement specialists
Child Correspondence and Photo Quality
- Design all child correspondence templates, in coordination with program technical staff, including 30-day letters, response templates, and other beneficiary-facing content
- Maintain current and relevant photo and correspondence quality content for liaison manuals and trainings
- Regularly assist with the correspondence, enrollment, and annual family update review process to monitor overall quality of communications between children and their sponsors
- Provide timely feedback and technical assistance to liaisons related to marketing assets, child photos, camera equipment, and other specific projects as needed
Sponsor Servicing and Country Office Communications
- Refresh all required country office routine correspondence to sponsors and beneficiaries annually as required
- Provide frequent updates to other departments related to US Sponsorship
- Develop customized phase-over communications to sponsors as needed
- Contribute to the content and creation of customized communications and materials for corporate sponsors
- Coordinate corporate sponsor special projects and sponsor visits, and collect and compile required marketing assets as needed
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience relevant to communications, marketing, branding, storytelling, graphic design, photography, and customer/donor service
- Prior experience using Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Adobe programs at a proficient level
- Excellent creative graphic design and photography skills
- Ability to interpret and implement established policies and procedures and to recommend changes when appropriate
- Can effectively analyze information, manage projects, evaluate options, and think and plan strategically
- A flexible and initiative-taking attitude with the ability to manage an unpredictable and, at times, heavy workload
- Highly developed verbal and written interpersonal communication skills, with ability and experience developing and delivering trainings to individuals of varying skill levels

- Spanish proficiency is a plus
