Program Officer - This is a position within SomReP which will support grant acquisition and management of the grant portfolio. In collaboration with relevant SomReP Technical Unit (TU) staff, SomReP partners, and WV Technical Advisors, the holder will support project and proposal development and design for high-value, competitive, complex funding opportunities in line with SomReP and WVS strategy. The position will support the creation and promotion of strategic alliances and relationships with donors, bilateral and multilateral agencies, and other NGOs for purposes of funding acquisition and resource mobilization. S/he will review monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports for submission to donors and SOs ensuring high quality as well as donor compliance and satisfaction and will assist in building the capacity of SomReP partners in programming.

Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies or related field;
Skills/Experience: 
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Team player - the ability to mobilize and work as part of a diverse team to achieve the overall goal

Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

  • Experience: 2 years of programming experience in a grant funded resilience program with a consortium, preferably in a fragile context;
  • At least 2 years of experience in working with the following donors: SDC, DFAT, SIDA and DANIDA;
  • Training in PMD Pro and Gateway to Grants;
  • Proven experience in networking with SDC, DFAT, SIDA, and DANIDA to enhance the reputation and visibility of program;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with other NGOs in donor reporting to meet even the tightest deadlines;
  • Ability to establish and cultivate strong, collaborative relationships;
  • Good report and proposal writing skills

  • Work environment: Nairobi based
  • Travel: The position requires frequent travel to Somalia, a dynamic and often insecure context; when in Somalia accommodation is at team houses
