World Vision Somalia Program wishes to invite applications from highly competent dynamic, self-driven and results oriented Somalia Residents to fill the following vacancy to be based in Dollow Office.

To provide continuous promotion of water quality, hygiene and sanitation standards through campaigns, meetings and community mobilization.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Ensure maintained water quality, hygiene and sanitation standards among the community

  • Ensure hygiene education and campaigns are conducted among the targeted community members;
  • Train the community on the use of HWT systems using different behavior change methodologies and capturing the all data using HP forms;
  • Educate the community on clean house hold water acquisition, transportation and storage;
  • Educate the community on solid waste management;
  • Organize and develop beneficiary lists for distribution of water purification sachets and ensuring equitable distribution of the same within the project area.

Enhance advocacy for water and sanitation issues

  • Use lessons learnt in household water treatment promotion to ensure sustainable access, use and education.
  • Ensure that the community especially women have developed interests in household water treatment practices;

Prepare work plans, accurate reports and collect information

  • Prepare weekly work plans and submit to the supervisor;
  • Prepare weekly activity achievement reports;
  • Liaise with all stake holders in conducting periodic assessment and baseline studies;
  • Highlight the challenges faced and way forward;
  • Capture household water treatment lessons learnt and share them.
Educational Background: 
Diploma in Community Development or Public Health;
Skills/Experience: 
  • Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as negotiation skills;
  • Must adhere to set security standards;
  • Ensure a gender perspective in the scope of work;
  • Perform other duties as required;
  • Good spirit and team player.

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

  • Technical Training qualifications required: Skills in Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) Child Hygiene and Sanitation Transformation (CHAST) and/ or Participatory Hygiene and Sanitation Methodology (PHAST) tools.
  • Experience: 2 years of experience in project implementation of preferably a community development / health or / WASH project;

Others :

  • Proficiency in using computer software e. g MS office and internet;
  • Fluency in Somali language and English is needed.
  • Working Environment / Conditions:
  • Work environment: Field–based;
  • Travel: 100% Domestic travel is required.
