The Walk coordinator is an integral part of a team that raises funds to support the Alzheimer's Association's vision, mission, programs and services through the world's largest fundraiser: the Walk the End Alzheimer's. This position manages all logistical details of the Twin Cities Walk to End Alzheimer's, including working with a robust volunteer committee, rental companies, and several other organizations to ensure a safe and fun event day for over 10,000 participants. This position also assists with Walk initiatives for the fifteen Walk events throughout the chapter.
The Walk Coordinator should have a love for special event management, provide outstanding customer service, be an enthusiastic professional, and be able to build relationships with internal and external constituents and volunteers.
Walk Event Planning & Production
- Strategically plan and manage the execution of all Walk day logistics for the Twin Cities Walk, including: rentals, walk route, site details, contracts, catering, decor, entertainment, transportation, equipment
- Manage, recruit and train the volunteer logistics chair and committee members for the Twin Cities Walk
- Assist in creating and managing training materials for event day volunteers and staff, specify staff roles and requirements, and pre-train event day volunteers and staff
- Assist with all Twin Cities Walk wraparound events (e.g., kickoffs, registration weeks, bank nights, contest weeks, etc.) and all walker stewardship and cultivation initiatives
- Lead the internal Staff Team Events Committee in organizing fundraising events for chapter-wide staff
- Propose ideas to improve provided services, event quality and efficiencies
Event Support
- Prepare Walk data reporting (e.g., biweekly reports, benchmarking, queries, stewardship call sheets, etc.)
- Coordinate and track all Twin Cities Walk sponsors (to be used internally to fulfill sponsorship benefits)
- Maintain and update Walk websites for all Walks
- Manage merchandise orders, the distribution of marketing collateral, the walker incentive program and supply requests for all Walks
- Provide customer service for walker website assistance and donation questions for all Walks
- Assist with contact lists, scripts and details for staff team recruitment day
- Provide meeting support for Walk Committee meetings and other Walk-related meetings
- Support regional Walks to End Alzheimer’s as needed
- Provide training, supervision and work direction to special event interns
- Represent the Association at designated benefit events or other Association events
- At least 1-2 years coordinating special events
- Understanding of development and fundraising events preferred
- Professional experience in a nonprofit fundraising setting preferred
- Experience working with volunteers preferred
