he American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a YOUTH MARKET COORDINATOR in ourMIDWEST AFFILIATE office located in EDINA, MN. The Youth Market Coordinator will provide administrative support that helps ensure effective execution of American Heart Association health impact goals and objectives in the assigned areas. Assistant will be responsible for supporting staff in the following area:

YOUTH MARKET: Focuses on fundraising opportunities with schools through Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart, which educates students on the benefit of physical activity.

CORPORATE DEVELOPMENT: Focuses on supporting the GRFW Luncheons in Mankato, Rochester and Lacrosse, WI, and Bismarck ND and the Heart Walk event in Bismarck, ND

Areas of Responsibility: 

REVENUE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for inside sales and service of youth market products
  • Recruit, train and motivate volunteers in youth market products and services
  • Gain knowledge of Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart programs through training; maintain awareness of current event structure and details. This includes weekly knowledge of ongoing operations in assigned activities.
  • Establish and maintain superior customer service relations with schools, volunteers and donors by providing professional and friendly assistance within best practice guidelines, with proactive resolution of issues or needs.

TEAM SUPPORT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the GO RED FOR WOMEN LUNCHEON & HEART WALK EVENTS : Mankato GRFW, Rochester GRFW, Lacrosse GRFW, Bismarck, ND GRFW and Bismarck, ND Heart Walk.
  • Keeps current with the Affiliate budget numbers and accounting practices and is responsible for coding external billings, check requests and other Finance activities as directed.
  • Maintains and processes reports and forwards them to appropriate staff in a timely manner.
  • Assists immediate supervisor and assigned staff with travel arrangements and maintenance of his/her calendar.
  • Sets up teleconference calls.
  • Coordinates volunteer meetings, training's and projects as needed including writing meeting minutes, correspondence, logistics and follow- up.
  • Develops, inputs, and maintains information in appropriate computer software programs.
  • Develops, oversees and/or assists in the development of brochures, flyers, newsletters and other materials as needed. Manages the distribution of materials for activities in the region.
  • Attends appropriate events, meetings, and conferences. Assists with set-up, registration, ordering food and supplies/materials, preparing supplies/materials, and organizing other American Heart Association staff at events, meetings, and conferences as appropriate. May serve as an American Heart Association representative at events, meetings, and conferences.
  • Develops and maintains sufficient inventory of department materials.
  • Provides backup for receptionist, cash processing, or mail as scheduled.
  • Attend all meetings and training mandated or approved by supervisor.
  • Willingness to accept other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Regional Vice President of Youth Market and Senior Vice President of Youth Market.
Educational Background: 
Must have earned a high school diploma or GED
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum two years work experience with the American Heart Association or in fundraising or sales.
  • Must have at least basic knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office 2010 used for word processing, email, presentations, and spreadsheets. Advanced knowledge and skill with these programs is preferred. These skills are subject to testing.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and interact with all levels of American Heart Association staff, volunteers and the public. This includes ability and willingness to build and nurture relationships within and outside the American Heart Association. This also includes the ability to work cooperatively with others to leverage resources to achieve common goals.
  • Ability to be diplomatic, self-motivated, resourceful, tactful and flexible.
  • Ability to function independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proven background and willingness to work in an atmosphere requiring flexibility and change.
  • Must pass background checks.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Ability to objectively evaluate, make effective decisions and develop alternative solutions.
  • Knowledge of and skill in report preparation, proofreading and attention to detail.
  • Ability to acquire understanding and absorb new information rapidly.
