The Development Coordinator will be responsible primarily for supporting the Center’s fund development efforts; s/he will also assist with miscellaneous administrative tasks at the Center and support programs and special projects as needed. Reporting to the Center Director, the Development Coordinator will work closely with the Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center staff and stewardship advisory board, and also collaborate with the Development teams for Iain Nicolson Audubon Center at Rowe Sanctuary and Audubon Nebraska to coordinate fund development activities overall for Audubon in Nebraska. This is a full-time position. Applications will be accepted until September 15, 2017.
The essential functions of this position are to:
- Track and acknowledge contributions in accordance with Audubon policies and procedures.
- Manage accurate record keeping for all information related to donor activity including gifts, acknowledgments, pledges, notes, and activity monitoring.
- Work with the Center Director and the advisory board’s Fund Development Committee in planning of annual solicitation strategies for individual, foundation, and business donors, and prospects.
- Lead coordination of annual solicitation strategies for individual, foundation, and business donors, and prospects, including tracking deadlines and compiling supporting material for funding proposals and grant reports.
- Assist with prospect research, including individual, corporate, private, foundations, etc.
- Coordinate logistics for and attend donor cultivation events; track attendance, and follow up with attendees as needed.
- Work with education and conservation program leaders to leverage fundraising opportunities of our mission-driven work.
- Generate content, reports, and mail lists for events and solicitations, in cooperation with program staff.
- Provide check and balance functions in the receipt and transmittal of funds and back-up support to the Operations Manager.
- Answer phone and greet visitors.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned.

- A self-starter, problem solver, and team player. Must be able to juggle multiple projects with conflicting deadlines.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills also a must.
- Highly organized with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience working with online databases/donor management systems desired.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, while exercising discretion and personal judgment where appropriate.
- Interest in conservation and commitment to the mission of the National Audubon Society.
- Flexibility with hours, with availability to work occasional weekend or evening events when needed.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
