The Fundraising Assistant works on a variety of fundraising activities and provides administrative and/or program support. The Assistant will be based in Delhi, India to support fundraising staff in India and the United States.
The Fundraising Assistant will be responsible for various activities:
- Enthusiastically maintain meticulous database donor records for a growing number of prospects. This includes entering contact information, meeting notes, and interactions such as emails and phone calls.
- Extracting lists and other information from the database.
- Process and record gifts.
- Draft and distribute donor thank you letters.
- Coordinate donor mailings, conduct merge mailings, distribute funding appeals through MailChimp.
- Plan meeting logistics.
- Assist planning of special event for prospects and donors, in some cases taking on numerous logistical details and tracking guest lists.
- Proofread development publications and proposals.
- Conduct donor prospect research and prepare for help staff prepare for prospect meetings.
- S/he may have substantial contact with staff, donors, and trustees. S/he will perform other administrative functions as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
- Does not supervise any staff.
- Duties are performed under general supervision and established guidelines.
- Financial responsibility may include working within a budget, purchasing, processing invoices, contracting with vendors, and assisting with budget tracking.
- Refers difficult questions and unusual problems to supervisor.
- Serve as a team member for assigned projects.
- Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.
- Work overtime as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 1 years of experience or equivalent combination.
- Experience in business writing, editing, and proofreading.
- Experience coordinating diverse activities to meet deadlines.
- Experience working and communicating with a wide range of people.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience or equivalent combination.
- Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
- Ability to apply research skills.
- Ability to write and edit written materials for use with donor solicitations, member communications, and special events.
- Experience working with databases, including managing and tracking data.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate international staff and time differences.
