Position Summary:

The Program and Organizing Director reports to the Executive Director and is a member of the senior staff. The director is responsible for the full management of all of TRP’s programs and organizing efforts. They oversee partnerships with allied organizations, determine strategic programming priorities, and contribute to advancing the overall mission of the organization in collaboration with all TRP staff.


TRP seeks a visionary and inspiring leader who can represent TRP and its mission to diverse constituencies. Candidates should have an in-depth understanding of Christian culture and theology, a demonstrated commitment to LGBTQ inclusion in the church, and a deep understanding of anti-oppression and intersectionality.  

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate strategies to carry out TRP’s mission and vision, including TRP’s teaching and training resources and leadership development strategies

  • Foster and maintain strong, ongoing relationships with national grassroots and grasstops leaders

  • Identify, recruit, and train an inclusive network of grassroots leaders

  • Build and facilitate a network of allied organizations to support local and national work

  • Supervise Program and Organizing staff

  • Develop and manage systems to support national leaders on story collection, leadership development, list building, and coalition building

  • Identify and implement mechanisms to monitor program activities, impact evaluation, and data collection

  • Collaborate with the Development Director to monitor and report program outcomes, write grant proposals, and establish strategic priorities

  • Collaborate with the Operations Director to project and monitor program costs

  • Collaborate with staff to refine external communications strategies

  • Contribute to the organization's growth plan, annual and long-term planning, performance management, culture, and key strategic decisions

Skills/Experience: 
  • Proven commitment to the vision and values of TRP as outlined on our website

  • Extensive knowledge and familiarity with LGBTQ and Christian communities

  • Demonstrated familiarity with affirming theology, racial justice, and intersectionality

  • Minimum five years experience in community organizing and program management

  • Highly relational with a deep commitment to grassroots leadership development

  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once; adaptable in high-stress situations

  • Outcome-focused and highly organized

  • Collaborative and team-oriented

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Experience developing written materials for a range of platforms

  • Independent and motivated thinker

  • Adept at using online platforms like Google Suites, Salesforce, or similar web-based programs

  • Ability to work flexible hours (some evenings and weekends)

  • Ability to travel within the U.S. up to 30% of the time

Additional Qualifications (not required, but a plus):

  • Second language skills (especially Spanish or Mandarin Chinese)

  • Formal theological training

Compensation/Benefits:
