The YMCA of the Okobojis has an exciting opportunity for someone to join our team as the Development Director. This position will provide leadership to the association's total financial development efforts while a assisting in the growth of all Human Resource facets. This individual should have relevant experience in annual campaigns, capital campaigns, grant writing, and endowment development. Candidate must be an excellent communicator and be able to represent the YMCA professionally in the community and with individual donors to further the YMCA’s mission. This position is responsible for coordinating all efforts to manage and direct an effective financial development program for the Bedell Family YMCA and Camp Foster YMCA.
Fundraising
- Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan to advance the development program, with elements that include donor cultivation and stewardship involving annual and multi-year pledges.
- Research prospects to ensure effective cultivation and solicitation, utilizing our membership, donor, and alumni base, as well as identifying new prospects.
- Provide leadership and identify prospects for planned gifts, continuing the growth of revenue and participation in the YMCA’s Heritage Club.
- Provide leadership and support to capital fundraising efforts, incorporating goals and strategies into annual and multi-year plans where appropriate.
- Coordinate with CEO/CFO, volunteers, and YMCA Leadership Team for any and all special fundraising events.
- Maintain current and accurate files for all donors and potential donor prospects.
- In conjunction with CEO and Fund Development Committee, establish an intentional donor recognition plan for all gifts.
- Work with the CEO and CFO to develop the organization’s annual fund development plan.
- Identify, develop and write proposals for grants from government sources, private trusts, and foundations.
Engagement
- In conjunction with the Communications Director and Leadership Team, design and implement communications appropriate to donor cultivation and stewardship.
- Develop a strong presence in the community through effective networking, planning and execution of communications.
- Continually engage volunteer leadership in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities designed to meet association goals.
- Work with committees of the Board of Directors.
Human Resources
- Work with CFO to maintain personnel files while developing new procedures including staff training and leadership development, retention, recognition, employee communication, and career development. Assess and evaluate training and staff development needs, and develop programs to meet needs.
- Support YMCA Directors with onboarding of new staff and orientation for all employees. Keep records of required training.
- Develop and implement a training process for staff and volunteers to prepare them for fund raising activities.
- Develop and maintain performance management and appraisal programs. Provide assistance to employees and supervisors with questions and workplace problems.
- In cooperation with the CFO, develop, monitor, and implement the annual budget for Fund Development and Human Resources.
- CFRE or equivalent preferred
- Successful fundraising experience
- Foundation and government grant writing expertise
- Strong problem solving skills, and the ability to relate to top community leaders and diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Volunteer management experience
