This position is responsible for the effective and efficient financial, operational, and administrative management of Habitat for Humanity of Bulloch County (HFHBC). The Executive Director provides overall leadership for HFHBC in accordance with the policies, objectives, and directions of the Board of Directors.
Areas of Responsibility:
Key Responsibilities:
General Administration
- Ensure that all required official records and documents are maintained and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and Habitat guidelines
- Determine staffing needs and present them to the Board of Directors for approval
- Select, train and supervise all employees, providing daily work assignments as needed
- Evaluate the performance of staff members annually
Financial Management
- Prepare the annual budget with the Treasurer
- Monitor finances and cash flow to ensure compliance with approved budget
- Oversee the maintenance of financial records and provide said records when requested
Program and Mission Management
- Oversee homebuyer selection and support activities
- Acquire and maintain loan originator and loan servicer qualifications and oversee these activities
- Manage homeowner mortgage payment issues (delinquent payments, foreclosures, etc.)
- Work closely with construction supervisor to assure timely and cost effective construction of new, remodeled, and recycled homes while insuring appropriate training and safety for all volunteers
Community Relations and Resource Development
- Consult with resource development staff to fund development, retain donors, and recognize current donors and volunteers
- Oversee production of a quarterly newsletter, website, publications and promotional materials
- Apply for local, national, and federal grants
- Work with a wide range of public figures and organizations, including media, civic & religious groups, city officials, Habitat homeowners, Habitat’s board of directors, merchants, volunteers, Habitat for Humanity International, etc. to further the mission of the organization
- Present Habitat program to community via presentations to community groups, media outlets and other appropriate locations
Board Support
- Work with Board President to prepare an agenda for board meetings
- Address all issues requiring resolution that are outside the scope of the Board
- Prepare and submit a written monthly report for the Board of Directors
- Take part in an annual performance review with the President of the Board
Additional Information
- Candidate must pass Criminal Background Check, Sexual Offender Check, and Credit Check
- Candidate must have reliable transportation for local travel
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in non-profit or business management, social service, public relations or related field or equivalent work experience required
Skills/Experience:
- Experience in non- profit management, project management, and financial management
- Fundraising experience, including events and grants
- Volunteer management experience
- Effective verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
- Ability to deal effectively and professionally with people of all social, economic, cultural, and religious backgrounds within our community.
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Experience in working with the media
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, and database software
