American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Staff Accountant in our National Center office in Dallas, TX. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for performing a wide range of duties, including daily operations, month end closing and budgeting responsibilities.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Perform Accounting duties for two ECC lines of business-eLearning and Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI).
- Prepare and input monthly entries including, but not limited to; sales recognition and accounts receivables for eLearning and RQI.
- Prepare, update and review all Accounts Receivable entries related to invoiced sales and payments. Create invoice/statements based upon Accounts Receivable (A/R) invoiced sales. Prepare and review necessary A/R aging reports to ascertain accounts are current and provide any A/R collection follow up, if necessary.
- Prepare monthly reconciliation between sales, cash receipts (credit cards), receivable, and bank deposits.
- Provide support in developing and/or refining processes including, but not limited to; reconciliations, collections, A/R and invoicing processes and budgeting.
- Assist with coordinating and managing the annual ECC budget process that encompasses establishing timeline, communicating expectations and responsibilities to the ECC managers, directors and VP’s.
- Throughout the fiscal year, review and implement budget transfers among ECC work orders, as requested by management.
- Assist in the fiscal year-end closing process to meet the required ECC deadlines.
- Assist in preparation of year-end analysis and entries as required to accurately reflect ECC eLearning and RQI business units’ financial position and performance per General Accepted Accounting Principal.
- Assist with applying the proper accounting procedures and controls on sales tax collection and reporting and coordinating with the centralized Finance Tax Department on filing and reporting ECC sales taxes for eLearning and RQI.
- Cross train as needed with other ECC Finance team members.
- Provide necessary customer service and support to ECC and Finance staff.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field required.
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Accounting, Financial analysis, and planning and budgeting required, 5 years preferred.
- Knowledge of accounting rules and application, compliance with GAAP accounting, and internal controls.
- Advanced Excel Skills-including Macro creation.
- Budgeting (Multi department budgeting and consolidation.)
- International business and/or accounting experience.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Highly effective organizational skills.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel.)
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
- Detail and deadline oriented.
