Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities and hope.

As a Construction Manager, you’ll review plans, specifications, and construction documents in order to properly plan the construction process – with the emphasis always on safety, quality and schedule.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Coordinate with staff in order to have the right amount of material, volunteers, contractors and subcontractors on the job at all times.
  • Work closely with the Director of Construction to ensure that all trades, materials and labor are available and utilized in a timely manner to meet construction schedule.
  • Responsible for oversight and development of any assigned AmeriCorps, volunteers and staff working on their sites.
  • Demonstrating your commitment to Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity’s mission and core values.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Must be able to coordinate and schedule multiple sites, utilizing staff, volunteer leadership, and future homebuyers.
  • Have a demonstrated knowledge of construction practices to include Energy Star Guidelines, Advanced Building Sciences, and all applicable codes.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction management.
  • Able to read blueprints and decipher construction documents.
  • Demonstrates the ability to use commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within the field.
  • Convey clear, concise information to others, using verbal or other appropriate communication techniques.
  • Complete formal training plan and assignments as required.
  • Treat others in a nondiscriminatory, lawful and ethical manner, respecting the differences among people, and the value they bring to GDMHFH.
  • Follow safe practices in all work activities to avoid injuries and accidents.
