The Manager will provide quality control and implement activities that contribute to the successful pursuit of USG and other public donor funding opportunities across all of Save the Children’s programmatic sectors and priorities. The position is a key partner to field and HQ staff on new business development for large strategic opportunity proposals, from positioning through proposal submission, and contributes to the NBD department’s ongoing improvement of business processes, capacities, tools and resources to strengthen the agency’s ability to acquire funding to achieve our mission. His/her actions supporting multi-divisional proposal response teams directly affect the quality and competitiveness of the organization's proposals for new funding.
- Contributes to opportunity analysis, bid decision-making, pre-proposal positioning and planning, as well as post-submission capture and sharing of lessons learned. Serves on proposal teams in capacities that may include but are not limited to serving as a Proposal Assistant or Proposal Manager (depending on size and complexity) and ensuring proposals follow established processes; writing, reviewing and editing technical and cost proposal sections; assisting with graphic development and formatting; and overseeing final proposal production for submission to donors. (60%)
- Maintain appropriate systems, procedures, policies and materials to support the identification, selection and response to strategic opportunities. Assist in organizing and utilizing department tools, templates, and capacity building resources in support of proposal development. (15%)
- Serve as the New Business Development point of contact for select country offices, assisting them with positioning and capture planning efforts to develop a pipeline of US Government funding opportunities. Facilitate identification of new opportunities and convene country offices and technical colleagues to explore and prepare in advance of solicitation release (setting clear objectives and measures to ensure timely progress). (10%)
- Strengthen the capacity of staff to respond to strategic opportunities through delivery of information training and tools, including: country and regional trainings, and/or one-on-one interaction with HQ and field based staff on proposal teams. (10%)
- Represent SC/US as appropriate on strategic opportunities with partners and others, participating as needed in meetings and workshops. (5%)
Required Qualifications
- 3 – 5 years of experience in international development, including at least 1 year of experience supporting the development of large-scale proposals for the USG or other public funding sources.
- Must be willing to travel up to 15%.
- Excellent writing, editing and verbal skills in English required.
- Knowledge of and experience with USAID's procurement procedures and USG grant regulations required; familiarity with other donors plus
- Knowledge of proposal development processes for USG or other donors
- Ability to review and analyze solicitation materials against agency priorities and explore/discuss competitive landscape to inform decision-making.
- Excellent facilitation skills, and strong public speaking or training experience preferred
- Ability to work under tight deadlines, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work in a fast- paced and complex environment.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with training/mentoring staff through remote technology and working overseas with different cultures a plus.
- French, Spanish or Portuguese skills desirable.
