To act as the Puerto Rico (PR)/United States Virgin Islands (USVI) Liaison in all functional areas of the Society.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Liaison will have decision making authority within the scope of the job, as well as know, distinguish, and adhere to the decision-making constructs of the position, which includes the limits of this role’s decision-making ability.  Decisions impacting overall business operations, matters of governance, or other matters outside of their scope of authority will be deferred to the Executive Vice President (EVP) of the Florida Division.

The Liaison will be part of the Society’s Global Initiative and will serve as an example of our reach and interaction with other countries/cultures.  This role will also participate and contribute to the development of functional strategy, recognized as an expert within the organization who is able to solve unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business.  This position will proactively anticipate internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues; recommend solutions and process, product or service improvements. May direct major projects or programs by leading cross-functional workgroups to deliver results with significant impact.  Responsible for managing internal and external relationships by communicating, liaising, and negotiating to facilitate/cultivate profitable and sustainable relationships domestically and globally.  Works as a team player and partner to the Southeast Region, as well as collaborates with across Regional boundaries and with Global Headquarters resources.

Puerto Rico Liaison (90%)

  • Primary contact and manager of all Society related activities for Puerto Rico in coordination with Florida and GHQ
  • Manages monthly conference call between Puerto Rico and Senior Leadership Team, incl. agenda development and follow-up as necessary
  • Participates on monthly PR financial meetings, coordinates follow-up as necessary
  • Manages PR related meetings with functional areas (RFL/Communications/MSABC) and works collaboratively to follow-up
  • Coordinates PR requests from and to GHQ (legal contract review items/Relay For Life/Hope Lodge)
  • Prioritizes and handles daily issues as they arise (Mission/Income/HL/Finance)
  • Maintains, updates and standardizes PR operational processes following guidelines set by GHQ
  • Maintains close working relationship with PR leadership staff
  • Collaboratively works with Regional leadership and GHQ staff to achieve goals

USVI Liaison (5%)

  • Primary contact and manager of all Society related activities for the US Virgin Islands in coordination with SER and GHQ
  • Coordinates, tracks and follow-up items of monthly management meeting items
  • Communicates effectively with Executive Director on a weekly basis
  • Coordinates any other USVI related meetings with functional areas (RFL/MSABC /Communications)
  • Coordinates USVI requests from and to GHQ (legal contract review items, Talent Mgt.)• Handle daily issues (Mission/Income/HL/Finance)
  • Assists with community volunteer issues and board items as needed
  • Maintain, update and standardize USVI operational processes following guidelines set by GHQ
  • Maintains close working relationship with USVI staff

Other (5%)

  • Assist with diversity responsibilities, as requested
  • Assist with team/workgroup assignments for EVP, schedule f/u meetings, coordinate materials and f/u calls
  • Special projects as necessary
Educational Background: 
High School graduate, BS/BA in related discipline or MS/MA/MBA/MPH preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5 – 7 years in a for- or non-profit business environment responsibility for new business process design and development, including timelines and appropriate checkpoints and sign-offs; demonstrated record of functioning as liaison with senior leadership and other business unit leaders/functional areas.

  • Requires fluent bi-lingual reading, writing, speaking for English/Spanish, to effectively communicate with staff in PR/USVI
