Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is looking for a motivated and experienced Sr. Specialist to develop and manage neighborhood revitalization efforts in the United States. Neighborhood revitalization is a community development approach within Habitat for Humanity that aims to improve the quality of life of residents in focus neighborhoods. It prioritizes working alongside residents to ensure strategies align with their aspirations for their neighborhoods, and partners to maximize resources and expertise. Partner types may include those working in education, economic development, health, housing, amenities, transportation and safety. Strong candidates will have a working knowledge of asset based community develop and resident-led approaches, as well as direct experience securing and managing foundation or corporate grantsin excess of $1,000,000 per award. This position is responsible for building, maintaining, and managing oversight of neighborhood revitalization projects funded by grants with a total portfolio size between $2 million to $3 million annually.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Serve as subject matter expert in neighborhood revitalization. Lead or participate in virtual and in-person partner and donor meetings and events
  • Build and maintain a portfolio of projects in support of Neighborhood Revitalization's programmatic strategy and objectives.
  • Manage oversight and implementation of funded projects to ensure compliance, aid in proper stewardship, and enhance likelihood for funding renewal.
  • Collaborate with Habitat's front-line fundraisers, other program staff, and external partners to develop and implement targeted fundraising strategies around high prospect donors. 
  • Generate or contribute to written content for internal and external communications, as well as cultivation and solicitation materials for major gift, corporate, foundation, and institutional donors.
  • Support implementation of strategic direction decisions for neighborhood revitalization.
  • Manage 1:1 partnerships with staff in finance, resources development, affiliate services, construction technologies, and others; as well as local Habitat offices in the United States.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3 years’ experience working in community development, nonprofit sector, grant management, or project / program management.
  • Demonstrated experience securing and managing grants $1,000,000+.
  • Motivated self-starter and ability to work independently, meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks and be resourceful.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Must be comfortable communicating with partners and donors regularly via email, phone, and in-person, as well as presenting in front of large audiences.
  • Must have the judgment to manage projects with multiple stakeholders and anticipate and respond to challenges and course correct.
  • Aptitude for working on virtual teams.
  • Ability to create, read and reconcile budgets and financial statements.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and working in project or donor management databases.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation strategies, including data collection and analysis.
  • Knowledge of asset based community development.
  • Fluency in Spanish.
