Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is currently seeking a talented professional for the role of a Grant Accountant. The Grant Accountant supports the overall departmental effort in ensuring that Habitat for Humanity (HFH) establishes business processes and complies with donor requirements while supporting the mission.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Prepare bank and other bank related balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Prepare grant's financial reports as required for each grant.
  • Assist in performing site and off site subrecipient monitoring.
  • Assist compliance team in performing compliance review of expenses incurred and recorded in HFHI books and some invoices and payment requests before Accounts Payable executes payments to the vendor.
  • Perform month end close which includes preparing journal entries.
  • Prepare periodic budget vs. actual analysis.
  • Support other GCDR staff in ensuring compliance.
  • Support project managers and fund owners in providing financial information and analysis on projects financial performance.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of 3 -5 years in accounting.
  • Working knowledge of intermediate accounting and government grant compliance pronouncements.
  • Grant accounting, reporting and monitoring experience with grants from US government federal agencies such as HUD, CNCS, USAID, etc.
  • Strong communication and writing skill.
  • Ability to resolve standard issues independently and research and recommend resolution of unusual items.
  • Ability to travel up to 15%.
