Corporate Development Director

We have an excellent opportunity for a Corporate Development Director in Abilene, TX. You will work closely with fundraising responsibilities, as well as plan, implement and evaluate the local AHA events. These events bring together corporate partners, medical leaders, community leaders, and volunteers of the community to raise awareness of heart disease and stroke, the number #1 and #5 killer in America. You will have a planned net goal of $200k in your territory of the Abilene, TX area.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Revenue generation.
  • Event management and logistics.
  • Conducting sales calls to generate new business and manage existing companies.
  • Developing relationships with volunteers, sponsors, key corporate & community leaders.
  • Goal setting with corporate companies and individuals to raise funds and awareness.
  • Coordinating event efforts.
  • Networking within the local area.
  • Recruiting and retaining our valued volunteers.
  • Travel approximately 75% of the time driving locally.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred. College coursework combined with related experience may be substituted for a degree.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Related experience may be substituted as follows: 1 ½ years’ experience equates to 1 full time year of higher education.
  • 3+ years’ of experience in a similar role. This experience may also count towards satisfying this position’s educational requirement.
  • Able to lift at least 20 lbs from the ground to waist level with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of complex meeting management.
  • Excellent verbal and written business communications skills.
  • Ability to anticipate and satisfy customer needs; to work independently and take initiative; to creatively and effectively solve problems; to meet and interact with all levels of AHA staff and volunteers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, knowledge of database programs a plus.
  • Ability to accomplish results through strong volunteer recruitment and management.
  • Proven track record in meeting sales/fundraising goals.
  • Ability to work evenings/weekends when necessary with reliable transportation.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Non-smoking environment.
