World Vision is a Christian relief, development and advocacy organisation working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. World Vision is dedicated to working with the world’s most vulnerable people regardless of their religion, caste, gender or ethnicity. World Vision has been in Sri Lanka since 1977 working in relief and development projects in 20 districts across the country.
We are currently looking for qualified and experienced project staff for a Gender & Disability inclusive Economic Development Grant funded iLIVE Project which aims to promote economic empowerment and social change by helping Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and vulnerable women in achieving sustainable livelihood & income generation opportunities. The project will work closely with all implementing partners, National & Provincial Government authorities, Disabled People's Organizations (DPO), Producer groups and savings clubs. Funded by theAustralian NGO Corporation Programme(ANCP) working in collaboration with World Vision Australia, World Vision Lanka, CBM Australia and Promundo the project will cover Northern & Eastern Provincesof Sri Lanka.
Working with, the project team & the relevant stakeholders, the Project Assistant will serve as a catalyst, partnership broker, facilitating the implementation of project activities to meet the project goals & objectives for the economic empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (PWD) & vulnerable women in achieving sustainable livelihood opportunities. In addition He/She will be responsible for the following:
- Assist stakeholders and community partners to identify and mobilize community resources needed for project implementation.
- Ensure that all project activities/interventions are delivered on time, within the project scope and budget
- Support community partners in defining monitoring process for mutual learning and accountability in project implementation and capacity building
- Maintain project files/documentation, and coordinate field reporting in line with grant agreement & organizational policies & procedures
- Minimum 02 years’ experience in community development, program/project coordination preferably in a NGO context
- Good report writing & communication skills in English with working knowledge of Tamil and/or Sinhala
- Competent t in the use of MS Office Applications, internet & email communications
- Ability to travel extensively within project areas of operation
- Good understanding of current socio, economic & political context of the areas of operation
- Knowledge and experience of holistic community development
- Excellent interpersonal, representational, advocacy and networking skills with cross cultural sensitivity
- A team player with good interpersonal skills with cross-cultural sensitivity, & commitment to World Vision Core Values and Mission Statement
