About Us
Mission:

Washington Wildlife First is a Washington-based nonprofit whose mission is to leverage the power of the law, informed advocacy, and strategic partnerships to reform Washington’s management of its fish and wildlife, to ensure it is prepared to meet the threats posed by the global extinction crisis, climate change, and habitat loss. We seek to transform the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife into an agency that respects wildlife’s intrinsic worth, prioritizes the protection of healthy ecosystems, reflects the values of the people of the state, and fulfills its legal mandate to “protect, preserve, and perpetuate” state fish and wildlife.

Programs:

While we toward fundamentally changing Washington's approach to managing all fish and wildlife, our daily work includes leading campaigns to protect species ranging from salmon and squirrels to orcas and wolves. We advocate for wildlife before the Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission, the state legislature, and the governor. We lead a coalition of more than 60 local, state, and national wildlife organizations.

Why Work For Us?:

We are a dynamic, grassroots organization that has achieved significant results within our first three years. We offer an exciting work environment for visionaries who have the confidence to take bold action, and who want to see their work make an immediate difference.
