Founded in the aftermath of the infamous 1992 Los Angeles civil unrest, LATM launched its first after-school team mentoring program just three miles from the epicenter of the Los Angeles Riots. Since then, LATM has positively impacted 28,000 young lives within economically disadvantaged communities across LA County through 2.8 million hours of service by 9,500 volunteer mentors.
Our Mission: LATM’s mission statement is to guide middle school students growing up in challenging urban environments to recognize and reach their full potential as members of our community. Through a school-based team approach to mentoring, young adolescents are given the tools and support necessary to make positive choices during a critical period in their lives.
