Culture and Events Officer

As part of a dynamic team in the newly redeveloped Aisling Irish Community and Cultural Center (AICC) you will have the opportunity to shine as you drive growth and appreciation for Irish culture, cultural fusion, and engagement through Special Events, Cultural Events, Classes and Programs. Embrace the opportunity to work cross-functionally across the organization (with digital marketing, fundraising, administration, facility mgmt.) and externally (with vendors, volunteers, teachers, artists, authors, special guests, etc.) as you take culture and events to the next level at AICC!

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Work closely with the Development Officer, Executive Director and Volunteer Committees to produce 4 annual Special Events.
  • Develop the Aisling Cultural Series- recruit & collaborate with a variety of artists to deliver monthly cultural events (book reading, documentary, movie screening, Ceili, Pop-up Gaeltacht, Art exhibition, Celtic arts performance, Cultural Fusion spotlight etc.) at AICC.
  • Capture and create content with the Development and Digital Media Officer to deliver a digital experience on our website and digital platforms to drive interest in the program and support reporting requirements.
  • Plan, deliver, measure, analyze and report the impact of cultural events and programs.
  • Nurture relationships with Irish Organizations and attend appropriate networking events on behalf of the AICC to support these relationships and the AICC Cultural Program.
  • Coordinate all components of the Irish Culture Program (Celtic Camp, Ceili Band & Ballad Group, Foroige,  Mulcahy Scholarship, language, music & dance class) communicating effectively with instructors, teachers, and volunteers to ensure a robust and engaging program is delivered & developed.
  • Support networking, donor appreciation, community events and engagement initiatives.
Educational Background: 
Undergraduate degree or equivalent
2 years work experience in event planning, Irish cultural programs or equivalent
Skills/Experience: 
  • You are passionate about Irish Culture and have developed meaningful relationships to preserve the tradition of Irish heritage in its many forms. 
  • You have spent your time supporting and delivering engaging events that meet the organizations overarching goals.
  • You are a strong team player with willingness to roll up sleeves, and dive into work streams with a proven track record in managing volunteers, external vendors and internal stakeholders of programs.
  • You have a demonstrated ability to multitask, project manage, show attention to detail, and follow-through to completion.
  • You are extremely well-organized, punctual, efficient and demonstrate excellent communication skills, attitude and behavior.
  • You are a proactive, results-oriented, self-starter motivated by an interesting and challenging task.
  • You have the ability to think fast, pivot as the situation requires and maintain composure in stressful or fast paced situations.

This position is on site, ideal for strong team players, will require evening hours during events and occasional weekend hours.  A competitive package is offered including generous PTO, health, optical and dental insurance, 401(K) option with salary range from $55K to $62K commensurate with experience.
