Executive Director – Yuma, Arizona

Western Arizona Council of Governments (WACOG) is a governmental non-profit organization dedicated to serving its member entities, income challenged households, and vulnerable populations throughout Yuma, La Paz, and Mohave Counties.  Established in 1971, WACOG’s service area spans approximately 23,300 square miles, bordered by the Colorado River to the west, Utah to the north, and Mexico to the south.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Executive Director will be primarily based in Yuma, Arizona, with an additional business office located in Kingman, Arizona. This position is responsible for ensuring the overall vitality, sustainability, and strategic success of the organization. Key responsibilities include securing funding, overseeing program development and administration, managing resources, and directing all business operations. The Executive Director provides strategic leadership by establishing organizational goals, inspiring and guiding a diverse professional team, advising and collaborating with the Board of Directors, and serving as a visible advocate for WACOG’s mission, values, and long-term vision.

Educational Background: 
Bachelors Degree
Master's degree in Business Administration
Skills/Experience: 

Candidates must be able and willing to obtain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card and Central Registry Background Check, and be available for travel throughout WACOG’s service area, including occasional overnight stays.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Ten (10) years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit management, including broad experience in strategic planning, budgeting, human capital management, community engagement, and board relations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience serving as an Executive Director, Interim Executive Director, or Deputy Director
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: negotiable, plus excellent benefits including Arizona State Retirement .
