The Friends of the Asian Pacific American Museum is a nonprofit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, passionately devoted to attaining congressional authorization for and creating a national museum that illuminates and celebrates Asian Pacific American history and culture. Our vision is to create a dynamic Smithsonian Museum of tomorrow, ideally located on or near the National Mall in Washington, DC.
We are an independent entity, not affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution or the newly established Commission To Study the Potential Creation of a National Museum of Asian Pacific American History and Culture. Our work, however, aligns with and supports the work of the commission.
Job Title: Project Manager
YOUR ROLE: As our Project Manager, you will be the vital cog in coordinating, supporting, and executing various programs and projects, directly reporting to the COO. You'll analyze key themes, draft communications, liaise with partners, track project execution, supervise interns and maintain meticulous documentation. Your role is not just limited to coordinating but involves building and maintaining partnerships, both internally and externally, acting as the bridge among project stakeholders.
We are looking for motivated individual with exceptional problem-solving skills, a knack for strategic thinking, and an ability to translate strategy into tangible action. If you are a self-starter, team player, and can expertly navigate opportunities and emerging trends, we would love to meet you.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Spearhead outreach correspondence and activities for "Friends Of" Programs.
- Assist in the planning and execution of meetings and events.
- Conduct analysis on a range of research subjects.
- Oversee project resources, track budget expenditure, draft memos, and other correspondences.
- Manage website and social media content.
- Prepare regular status reports in accordance with project contracts and audit procedures.
- Attend project meetings and events, including travel as necessary.
- Supervise interns work.
- Assist with any other project or organization-related tasks as guided by the COO.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: • A Bachelor's degree. • Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management, with experience in a non-profit organization preferred. • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, including a track record of managing multiple concurrent projects and meeting deadlines. • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to connect with a diverse audience. • Superior attention to detail and excellent documentation skills. • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision. • Resourcefulness and flexibility, capable of managing diverse tasks and adapting to changing priorities and deadlines. • Sensitivity and ability to work effectively with diverse ethnic and cultural groups. • Strong technical skills, especially in Microsoft applications; experience using other software such as Zoho, Smartsheet, Teams, Linksquare, etc.
JOB TYPE: Full-time, with ability to work primarily at home or remotely. Some on-site work in the Washington, DC office required.
COMPENSATION: $60,000+, commensurate with experience
