The American Flood Coalition is a nonpartisan group of more than 315 elected officials, local leaders, military groups, and businesses that have come together to advocate for national solutions to sea level rise and flooding. The Coalition advances resilient and equitable solutions that support adaptation and recovery in flood-affected communities and protect our nation’s residents, economy, and military installations. With its singular focus on flooding and sea level rise, creative approach to finding solutions, and appreciation for deep community partnerships that leverage existing efforts, the Coalition seeks to significantly improve how communities around the country adapt to flooding and sea level rise.
Position Summary
We are seeking a detailed oriented, organized, strategic, and collaborative individual to join our fast-growing organization. This position is within our HR & Operations department. Which is responsible for leading people operations and business procedures in support of the AFC’s mission, vision, and culture. The Operations Associate will support AFC’s business operations and will strengthen AFC’s ongoing human resource and operations initiatives. The ideal candidate will be passionate about people operations, building and refining processes, and love details. This is a full-time position located in Washington, D.C., and reporting to our Senior HR & Operations Director.

Responsibilities
- Development of policies, procedures and systems that ensure the effectiveness of HR/Ops.
- Manage all aspects of a variety of in-person events, including team events, political events, and local events.
- Serve as a primary point for onboarding and offboarding for all employees.
- Recruit, Interview, and screen candidates, considering critical factors such as: culture fit, leadership skills, technical capabilities, and experience
- Serve as a point-person on accounting-related issues including accounts payable, expenses, vendor management. Assure that information for billing and reporting is accurate, consistent and complete
- Providing basic software and technical support of office equipment, such as copiers and conference room media, and coordinating maintenance with vendors as needed.
- Monthly reconciliation of credit card charges and expenses.
- Organize company culture events, team building, board dinners, and employee development.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience supporting operations for an organization; experience at a company undergoing rapid growth, nonprofit and/or start-up preferred
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects; leverage strong time management and organizational skills.
- Advanced knowledge of software platforms, (i.e., Google Suites, ASANA, Slack, and Zoom, ect.) and the ability to learn new software quickly.
- Bachelor’s degree required
