Digital Organizer

The Digital Organizer will be part of the Digital team which encompasses digital organizing and communications including email, paid ads and acquisitions, digital tactics around campaigns and base building, p2p, email, and social media. This is a mixed role working in a variety of programs ranging from social media and content generation to online group organizing. The role will report directly to the Digital Manager and will be housed under the Digital team.

 

Areas of Responsibility: 

 

Responsibilities

Social Media + Digital Organizing (70%)

  • Record and edit (Kapwing or Canva) UGC (user generated content, like Tiktok) style and other types of videos for base building, mobilizing, and campaigns.

  • Join, be actively involved in, cultivate, and start (as needed) Facebook groups, subreddits, and other fora platforms to organize users around issues and campaigns.

  • Design engaging graphics and other marketing materials using Canva or a similar tool.

Writing, Narrative, Emails (20%)

  • Manage the email program, including schedules, coordination with national and state, writing copy

  • Work with organizers to extrapolate threads and stories from campaigns and write copy for emails, posts, and other content

  • Design, set up, schedule, and send emails using EveryAction

  • Develop guidelines to ensure a cohesive and consistent narrative across our public facing channels

Other (10%)

  • Provide support exporting, importing, and cleaning  data for organizers and reports

  • Provide support as needed creating action and event pages, texting, data tracking

 

Skills/Experience: 

 

Qualifications: Experience + Soft Skills

  • At least 2 years of experience working with a communications team and 1 year (or campaign cycle) working in digital organizing: p2p, CRM, setting up actions, writing emails.

  • Naturally proactive with experience researching, developing, and managing projects; ability to hold different pieces of work simultaneously.

  • Solid skills with Google Suite: gmail, calendar, docs, and sheets (importing, exporting, cleaning data).

  • Has a reliable computer with a working camera and microphone that can run Slack, Zoom, browsers, and can handle video downloads, editing, and uploads.

  • Excellent communicator: asks questions to clarify, probes, able to give and receive feedback

  • Proactive and self starter. We don’t micromanage but do expect to know from you about your project timeline, delivery dates, and changes as they occur. 

  • Resourceful: expected to look for answers, attempt to figure things out before resorting to asking colleagues. 

  • Quick learner: Is comfortable and able to quickly learn new tools, platforms, and processes and develop new processes when needed; train others.

  • Aware of your own strengths and non-strengths.

  • Strong writing skills.

  • Preferred: experience working remotely with a distributed team.

  • Preferred: experience working with a values based and progressive nonprofit.

 

Qualifications: Technical Skills

  • Experience / comfort designing engaging creatives for email and social media (static graphics and video) with tools such as Canva, Kapwing, or Figma.

  • Comfort and desire to make UGC style videos for IG, FB, and TT with charisma and authenticity.

  • Experience and comfort extrapolating and writing compelling and cohesive campaign stories  from varied sources (data, interviews, press, trends, …).

  • Creative communicator and writer; able to adopt and create different styles and voices; able to think outside the box and collaborate on new ideas.

  • Experience setting up targeted emails on a CRM or platform like mailchimp.

  • Comfort learning new tools, systems, and processes (e.g. setting up P2P texting campaigns, making a new Wordpress page, making and setting up action or event pages).

  • Experience /comfort working with a CRM or database, preferably EveryAction.

  • Preferred experience organizing on Facebook groups.

 

Other Details

The virtual office works Monday through Friday in the usual hours of 9am to 5pm, but as the team is scattered across several time zones, the expectation is that we’re all reachable and responding to team requests from 12pm EST to 5pm EST.

 

Compensation/Benefits: 

 

Salary Range: $60,000 to $90,000 BOE
