As an Temp-Final Evaluator, you are a Teach For America Alumnus or former staff member working as a part of TFA’s Recruitment & Admissions team. You are responsible for interviewing a group of candidates that have been advanced past the initial application stage and invited to the interview day. This includes: preparing for the interview day by reviewing each applicant’s file (application, notes from previous reviewers and recommenders, responses to pre-interview activity, etc.); facilitating the interview day by leading applicants through various assessments and building inspiration around our mission; and accurately calibrating scores for each competency in our selection model in order to arrive at the best recommendation for each applicant.
You are motivated by the prospect of having a significant impact on Teach For America’s 2020 corps and beyond and derive joy from interacting with applicants in order to inspire and evaluate their potential for impact. As an Temp-Final Evaluator, you will enhance your professional skills in hiring while gaining an understanding of Teach For America’s selection model and staying engaged with the organization.
- Make excellent, evidence-based recommendations to admit or reject candidates for Teach For America’s corps:
- Thoroughly read applications and prepare to interview each applicant
- Make accurate calibrations
- Include evidence-based rationales that support calibrations and recommendations to admit or reject
- Document all decisions with thorough and professional notes
- Create a comfortable and inspiring applicant experience, increasing applicants’ likelihood to confirm their offer
- Complete training prior to interviewing applicants as well as ongoing professional development
- Commit to the following:
- Complete training (6 hours independent, 4 hours virtual training)
- Be available to interview applicants at between 3-6 deadlines for 1-2 days for a total commitment to interview at least 6 days during the weeks of October 7-10, November 11-14, January 21-24, February 24-27, March 23-26, and May 4-7.
- Participate in pilot activities, including asking pilot questions or activities.
- Complete all surveys and communications required of interviewers.
- Applicants must be a Teach For America alumnus
- Prior experience as an Application Reviewer or a former part-time or full-time staff member preferred
- Understands and is inspired by Teach For America’s core values and the extraordinary impact our work has on children and communities
