GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Professional Education Program Manager works to successfully plan, develop, launch, and manage PHA’s medical professional education programs in partnership with expert medical and scientific volunteer committees and the Director, Quality Care & Research. These programs include but are not limited to live and online educational opportunities, including CME/CMU accredited programming at PHA’s largest biannual signature events, PHA’s PH Professional Network (PHPN) Symposium and PHA’s International PH Conference & Scientific Sessions, online courses on PHA Online University, PHA’s medical journal, and PHA’s telementoring programs. The Professional Education Program Manager will assist the Director, Quality Care & Research to ensure that PHA creates and delivers timely, relevant and evidence-based educational opportunities to health care professionals of various disciplines and specialties to increase their knowledge and competence in early diagnosis and treating this rare, progressive, incurable disease.
This position reports to the Director, Quality Care & Research and collaborates closely with PHA leadership, Meetings & Conference Planning and Communications & Marketing departments to ensure high-impact delivery of program components to PHA’s currently engaged medical community and to the broader health care professional population in order to increase PHA’s reach to new audiences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Curate PHA’s continuing medical education programs to target specific healthcare professionals for specialized educational content offerings such as a PH nursing certificate, clinical fellowship syllabus, PH 101 course list, etc.
- Obtain medical education accreditation for educational content by ensuring all content adheres to policies and regulations of medical education accredited provider(s), completing all necessary documentation, approvals, and communication with the accredited provider(s).
- Support PHA’s professional education activities by collecting, maintaining, and submitting accreditation documentation and reports including author/presenter biographies and curriculum vitae (CV) and conflict of interest (COI) disclosures, speaker invitations, and written permission to utilize images and videos.
- Work with various vendors and consultants for joint accreditation, program management and videography.
- Manage PHA’s online learning management system (LMS) including designing new courses following accreditation criteria, posting, and categorizing all content components and educational offerings for healthcare professionals.
- Manage PHA’s written professional education materials including PHA’s medical journal and other clinical resource documents.
- Evaluate educational activities for opportunities to improve. Create and distribute program and activity evaluations to measure program effectiveness and generate online activity reports and program outcomes for internal and external stakeholders, including accredited providers, and vendors.
- Manage speaker proposal applications, abstract collection, and review processes for PHA’s biannual meetings, including promotion of the opportunities to the medical professional community and partner organizations for continuing education programming for healthcare professionals.
- Solicit and manage speakers for individual presentations, panels and hosting in-person and virtual event to support professional education. Manage learner enrollment and completions for CME/CU programming.
- Work closely with the Communications & Marketing department to promote events and new educational resources through PHA’s communications channels and support registration for PHA’s professional conferences and live and virtual continuing education opportunities.
- Represent PHA at various PH events and medical meetings while connecting with medical professionals and promoting PHA’s programs, resources and educational opportunities. Function as a resource to the PH medical community for PHA’s educational content.
- Support Director, Quality Care & Research with developing and managing sponsorship funding opportunities for continuing education programming.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- A minimum of 3 years of related experience, preferably in a healthcare, academic, or non-profit setting.
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a scientific or public health or related field; advanced degree is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience creating and delivering adult/professional education programming; knowledge of adult learning theory preferred.
- Highly organized, detail- and process-oriented, with ability to troubleshoot and problem solve. Demonstrates expert time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of constituents including PH patients, caregivers, medical professionals, medical writers, accredited providers, vendors, donors, and sponsors.
- Ability to work both as a collaborative team member and independently on multiple priorities under tight timeframes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Learning Management Systems
- Experience working with medical education planning and accreditation.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
- Reports to the Director, Quality Care & Research
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work requires occasional travel.
LOCATION: Office is in Silver Spring, Maryland. Fully remote candidates outside of the metro area will be considered. Washington, D.C. metro area candidates preferred.
REMOTE WORK: PHA employees work currently from home until further notice because of the COVID-19 pandemic. PHA expects to adopt a hybrid work model starting in Fall 2022.
