The Controller will be a key member of the Accounts Team and oversee many aspects of the accounting and financial functions of the organization. In order to be successful in the Controller position, the candidate must have exceptional nonprofit financial experience combined with a strong customer service approach towards Project Directors (fiscally sponsored projects).

In conjunction with CFO, develop, maintain, and administer monthly close procedures with the Accounts Team members

Coordinate with Director of Accounts regarding both financial and service delivery improvements for projects

Oversee Treasury function for Accounts Payable and Reimbursements; sending cash disbursements for AP and employee reimbursements, ensuring the AP team runs smoothly, and assist with any issues that may arise during the payment process

Work with Accounts Team to reconcile bank accounts

Assist projects with financial matters, including grant reporting, government grant invoicing, managing budgets and grant budgets

Manage, in conjunction with the Accounting Manager, unallocated revenues/expenses; detailed tracking of entries needed in project financial statements

Calculate monthly admin fees and record to the general ledger

Assist with large email volume from project directors

Assist Accounts Team with annual audit and 990 tax filing
The best candidate for this position will have an overall minimum of seven years of accounting/financial experience (with three of those years in a nonprofit setting) and be a self-starting, self-respecting, team-playing, positive-thinking, tech-savvy and consistent person with a passion for doing good in the world. Strong Excel skills: sumifs, pivot tables, reconciling large data exports

Possess strong financial reporting abilities (Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT)

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor degree in accounting

Extensive use with a variety of accounting platforms

Experience with nonprofit accounting

The annual salary for this position is $95K. We offer medical, dental, vision, FSA, retirement, and an "unlimited" paid time off policy.
